Teraflex brake kit for JL

I have a JL 392 on 40s. Brakes were obviously a bit soft. Saw a video of the Teraflex kit being awesome and stopping a JL on 40s on a dime.
Well, it's installed and its really soft pedal and does NOT stop it on a dime.

Anyone else try this kit with 38-40s? Same issue or better?

It sounds like it was not bled properly and there is still air in the lines.

Did you perform the ABS bleeding process?

Mine was rock solid, high pedal, and amazing stopping power.

Brake lines don't affect braking performance.
They *can* affect longevity due to swelling, but they also don't guarantee it.
This 100% feels like bleeding.
I have a big 4x4 event this weekend and one of the guys I know has the ABS tool. I'm going to see if we can do another bleed at the campsite and see if we can get it to stiffen up.

Nice to have, but not really necessary. I'm betting air in the lines.
How about seasoning? I’ve never tried a hard stop on unseasoned rotors so I don’t know what it feels like.
I asked about the lines because of the extra heat. Easy add-on once you’re doing calipers.
Years ago I’d have seriously doubted a shop would fail to properly bleed the lines. Now, I’d believe it.

Do you have the Teraflex Big Brake Kit or the Delta kit? Soft pedal has been a common concern with Teraflex's Big Brake Kit since it was introduced. The available master cylinders don't match well with the size of TF's front caliper pistons. The result is longer than expected pedal stroke. I've had their front BBK on my JK since it was introduced and have since added the J8 master & booster, plus their rear BRK. It will stop 37s on a dime, but there is a bit more pedal travel than I care for.

OTOH, if you have a pedal dropping to the floor or weak brake performance by all means do a complete brake fluid flush, including the ABS bleed routine.

The Alcon brakes felt firm after the system was bled, but the kit included instructions for bedding-in (braking in) the new brakes through a series of hard stops and cooling intervals on a schedule they provided, followed by “regular stop and go city driving” for a while. The brakes worked and felt fine immediately, but I think it took at least a couple hundred miles before optimized brake performance was achieved. I assume it will be similar for Teraflex.

Delta. Shop did the install. Pedal goes down 1/2 way through it's range of motion before you feel anything and then it's pretty soft even after. Doesn't go all the way to the floor though. The Jeep takes forever to break. You can't emergency brake it right now, cannot lockup the tires like I saw in the Delta videos, etc.

A local 4x4 shop did the install. I'm trying to get a hold of them to see if I can bring it back in the next 24 hours and get it bled before a big 4x4 event this weekend we have tickets to camp at.

The subscription on my Autel ran out and I don't want to pay for it just to open up the ABS so I would rather they do it.

Shop needs to pressure bleed the main system first, then do the ABS bleed routine, then pressure bleed the main system again. You can’t get this right pumping the brake pedal like it’s a ‘63 Ford.
