Installed PowerStop Z36 rotors and pads and they are only a minimal improvement (maybe 5%...maybe).

Will be upgrading the fronts first and am looking at American Power Brakes (https://apbbrake.com/products/jeep-gladiator-jt-wrangler-jl-front?variant=40759842013353).

Anyone have experience with them? Also, looking at Baer and Teraflex.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I edited the title to make it specific to the brand I installed.

Just curious but which jl model and year do you have? The Powerstop z36 truck and tow pads and slotted rotors I installed on all of my last 4 JL’s have literally stopped on a dime. Even with towing a 3700lb trailer.

2019 JLUR. I had to do an emergency stop some days ago due to a woman pulling out in front of me at near highway speeds.

No way the factory or the Z36 are adequate, the rotors are just too small with dual pistons.

My JLUR weighs 5700 empty so that is the largest part of the problem combined with the undersized brakes.

The reason I ask is because Jeep used different brake numbers on different models that had tow packages installed. The kits I’ve normally ordered for my past Jeeps were way incorrect for the 2022 High Tide that has a very odd system. My build sheet shows performance brake kit added which is different than the rubicon or 392 kit. Like it’s a hermaphrodite mix up of parts.

there seems to be an odd discrepancy between possible BR6 code vs BRY code.

Mine has the towing package and the "big brakes" which were marginally ok before I started modding it.

If the brakes on my JLUR were even half as good as those on my F150 or F250, there would be no need to look at aftermarket, but they are not.

Sad really given the number of revisions that FCA has done in an effort to improve the brakes on a Jeep. They should fire the entire department and outsource brake design to Wildwood/Baer/Brembo and be done with it.

After reviewing a number of different brands and testing with 3 different templates, I landed on @TeraFlex . I have about 3/8" clearance between the caliper and the backside of the face of the wheel and 5/8" clearance between the caliper and the "barrel" part of the wheel.

Given these are 14" rotors, I am happy that I will not have to change my wheels in the quest for better brakes. Hopefully, they will arrive soon, and I will get them installed and report back on performance.

Yep, having to add the cost of new wheels (and mounting tires, TPMS, etc) to the cost of a BBK is considerable, being able to run your current wheels but gaining that 14" rotor is significant. Looking forward to your results!

Well keep me up to date on this. I have also upgraded to the E36 brakes, they work but could use a upgrade.

Looking forward to the install and review on these.
They should be here tomorrow, and if they are I will install them before the weekend so you should not have to wait too long ?

I do not think so. I believe they use the OEM lines.

EDIT: @TX_Ovrlnd - they do not come with new lines and you should buy a set of rear lines. The front lines fit perfectly.
