I was a Tazer guy until my JL threw a code and the dealer threatened warranty denial, blaming it on bypassing the SGW. I subsequently converted to JScan. No installed hardware, cheaper, and WAY more features. And the SGW protection stays in place.

Why do we not hear more about JScan on this forum? Do many members just not know about it?

I don't think JSCAN can disable auto start/stop. That's why I got the Tazer. I now also have JSCAN because I needed it to re-program some stuff when replacing the engine.

I've always been a Jscan user...I don't like having to have a device operational at all times in order to have my vehicle the way I want it. Especially today, devices fail. With Jscan you plug in, make your changes, save, and unplug.

You do the same with the Tazer for the things the Jscan can do. Its the extra stuff the Tazer does like the auto stop start memory, or sway bar disco/lockers in 2h/4h that you need to leave it plugged in for.

So yea if you just want to set a dfferent tire size/gear ratio/tpms setting the Jscan is the way to go

I use JScan to disable my auto/stop.

This is a niche feature, but it can also force a regen on the EcoDiesel.

But...in my mind the biggest feature is leaving the SGW intact. If you are facing a major repair, like a blown engine, it's a convenient (and possibly true) excuse to deny your warranty claim. That's what caused me to switch in the first place.

I run an ECRI adapter that is fastened behind the trim under the steering wheel. If I ever needed to its just a quick disconnect and reconnect to the SGW. Doesn't matter to me as I am out of warranty but I can see the concern.

Jscan is more in depth than Tazer if you use the OBDlink mx+. You pretty much have the same access as a dealer would with OEM diag tools. This is the setup I use and works flawlessly with Jscan.

I do this plus Tazer.

Tazer for stop/start, winch mode, cool down mode, etc.

I have the extension cable and can very quickly disconnect the Tazer as needed.

I wasn't aware of this. Please tell us how.
To be honest, I don't recall - it's been three years. My three initial uses were ubiquitous ones: eliminating start/stop, deactivating tire pressure alerts, and recalibrating for 35s. One downside is that JScan has so many adjustments, navigating the options can be a challenge. The reason I was reminded to post this thread is I just did a manual regen on my Ecodiesel. Even though I had done one several years ago, it still took me 10 minutes to locate the option.

For curious members, download the app on you phone/tablet and explore the demo mode to see the features. It's quite overwhelming. As a previous poster mentioned, it's like having dealer-level access to the inner working of the Jeep.

But, again, retaining the SGW is the big one. You won't realize that your Tazer has betrayed your warranty until it's too late. My dealer told me to "come back once you remove the Tazer", but you may not get that warning shot on a big claim.
