I assume that a number of you have implemented the Tazer in your JL. I've found parts of the instructions ambiguous and have been having a very difficult time getting answers out of Z-Automotive.

Specifically...
- On Page 9... Set Locker. It says this setting is used to "delete factory lockers". I read this to say that if set to Rear only, the front locker is deleted, and if set to both, both lockers are deleted. I would then conclude that if set to 'none' lockers would work according to the factory settings. However, what I'm finding is that setting to 'none' gives me no lockers and setting to 'both' enables both factory lockers. Fine with me, but the manual doesn't support that conclusion and makes me wonder if something has gone wrong with the Tazer setup. What setting are you Tazer folks using to turn on both factory lockers?

- Also on Page 9... Set Front Axle Disconnect says that the setting will delete the factory Front Axle Disconnect for those who have done axle swaps. It doesn't say whether the delete happens when set to on or off. I really don't know. Have any of you sorted this out?

- Also on Page 9... Set Sway Bar. Here it says 'set to YES, it deletes the warnings assuming the sway bar has been removed."

If they are consistent, 'YES" means a factory thing has been deleted and therefore you would be deleting the lockers by giving a positive response.

Very confusing.

You've put your finger on another problem. I ask them questions and the answers (when they answer) seem like they didn't really read the question, or they ignore the question altogether. You can't talk to them on the phone. Worst customer service I've experienced.
One of their reps' reply (rather than answering my question) was that I'm 'overthinking it'. I'm like 'dude, just answer my question and we'll be fine'.

I have to believe there's a number of Tazer users out there whose front axle disconnects are disabled. Gas mileage is already bad enough.

Honestly, when I installed my Tazer, I didn’t mess with those settings. I left them default, and all of my stuff works.

I'm assuming that you've made modifications that are requiring you to mess with the locker and axles settings? You don't need to mess with settings like that unless you've changed from the stock configuration.

I say this because your section talking about the lockers seems to indicate that you do in fact have factory lockers. If that's true, why are you even messing with them?

My Jeep has no locker modifications. I was going through the instructions, trying to understand them and set things accordingly. The Set Locker description leads you to believe that you would set to 'none' if you wanted to keep factory lockers. The description says "This setting is used if you deleted factory lockers" which would imply don't set it if you have factory lockers. In fact, if I set to none, the lockers don't work. Doesn't make sense. Did I screw up? Distinct possibility. I'm just trying to understand how it's supposed to work.

Don't set it means don't touch it. The Tazer pulls the current configuration from your Jeep when you install it. So the defaults are what you should be at unless you've removed or changed something.

I do agree with you that the instructions aren't great. The important thing to remember is you only need to change something with the tazer if you're looking for the existing condition to be different than if the tazer wasn't there. Same goes if you were using JScan.

The instructions are pretty clear the "Set LOCKER" option doesn't need to be changed except in the case factory lockers were deleted.

The "Set Sway Bar" and "Set Front Axle Disconnect" options instructions are also pretty clear about being for cases of removed factory systems.

OK, I get it now. I have the correct understanding of the instructions and everything is working correctly. Thanks much for the help.
