Tazer (Programmer) for the JL

I'm getting my spring bow fixed tomorrow at the dealership, so I unmaried the Tazer today. Easy as pie.

I took off the dash panel to deal with the wire plugs. Funny, I had all kinds of trouble with these when I first installed it. I remember asking someone if taking the dash panel off would help, and I was told that it would not. Boy was that wrong. Anyway, I look forward to getting the new spring pad and getting the Taser back on duty. I think outside of the lift and tires, it is easily my favorite modification.

I just spent forever attempting to remove those two damn cables to install the Tazer. Same issue, I can't remove the suckers! Depressing the tabs give a audible click but they still won't budge. I'm going at it with tweezers and pliers trying not to damage the wires. Any suggestions?

I feel like when I tried to unplug mine I had to squeeze the tabs just right and they slid out with no issue. Did you remove the panel to get a better view of the connectors?

Holy hell my neck is killing me. The tabs are getting ate up. Yes, I removed the panel.

Are you pulling down hard enough and with a little wiggle of the cable right at the exact same moment you are pushing the release?

Take a break. Have at it again later. Don't marr up / damage the connector with metal tools.

Lol. Yes. I can get a pretty good grip with my fingers. I’m pulling and depressing at pretty much the same time. I’ll stop with the medical tools lol.

I had a hell of a time, too. Once they decide to let go, they slide easily. Don’t use tools, they aren’t needed. I think a little side-to-side wiggle helps.

@Rhinebeck01 nailed it - take a break and come back to it. They will come out, eventually.

But will I still have skin on my fingers when they do? Fighting with my Jeep is becoming a weekly thing lol. One hour and multiple tries later...

Yes, I did mine again tonight after a trip to the dealer for the Mopar lift spring bow fix. Definitely take that lower dash panel off. I bought a long metal pick from Harbor Freight and slightly blunted the point on the end of it. I then stuck it up in there and got a good push on that clip and was able to pull them out.

Let me know if you need a pic of the pick.

This thing is about to make me lose my marbles. I've had repeated attempts over the last 2 hours now. The thing is, I've depressed the tab enough so that it "clicks." So it SHOULD be released. Are you using the pick just to depress the tab or to shove it past the tab to free it from the lock? I am fighting the urge to rip the damn thing out. My panel is off, but it's still a damn awkward angle.

I used it just to depress the tab. Even though it clicks, something is still holding it. It damned near drove me nuts, too. At least three times, I gave up and went to bed in an attempt to try it again when not tired and easily frustrated. I pressed that tab good and hard with the pick. Again, I blunted the end of it so that it wouldn't just put a hole in the tab. I also pushed the tab with it more toward the center, up a little bit from the end, in an attempt to get right on the part that hooks and holds it in. Keep at it! The dang thing is worth it.

Man, if I was even 4 hours drive away from you, I'd drive over and help you. I know how confounding that is.

Thanks brother... breaking the beer out. This will either make the situation better or worse.... :cwl: at least my fingers won't hurts as much. Do you think a small flat head screw driver is to sharp? That's the only tool I can get up there. My medical tweezers and hemostats were a little to rough on it.

I tried a flat head screw driver. It wasn't too sharp, but just couldn't get an angle to really press where needed. The pick has a 90 degree bend, so it hits the sweet spot. The entire pick is about 10 inches long, so it easily gets up there. The first time I did it, it reached it even with the lower dash panel still on.
