Installed the Tazer today and this thing is a neat gadget... dropped TPMS down, shut off ESS, and adjusted the tire size... right now it works as advertised and does way more than I need it to.

fyi, the one I received was already updated to the latest firmware... thanks for the assist!
It is a great gadget! It’s pretty amazing what you can do with it. Plus it really easy to use.

I debated using HP Tuners to do all this stuff but the difference is, you have to pull the PCM and send it to them to have them "open it up" for tuning but I didn't want to get that deep in this thing since I was only changing options and not actual engine parameters... for about the same money I was able to change what I wanted with no downtime and the ability to "return to stock" quickly and not write an entire PCM...

Pulling the PCM not a great way to do it. Imagine if you had to return it back to stock for any type of repairs. Remove th PCM again then ship it UPS/FEDEX. Wait/hope it doesn’t get damaged/lost. I use to work for a diesel tuning company for 8 years. A few time on the Ford 6.7 we had customers ship us their PCM. Some times it didn’t go as planned and we had to get them a new PCM.

Tazer, much easier!!!!

Different features - there are no tuning features on the Tazer (right now). Most current vehicles running tuning programs have to be loaded through an unlocked PCM module - it wouldn’t affect returning to stock but you either be without your Jeep or would have to buy a second PCM. My tuner for my ram included a second PCM that you switched out - I have never put my original one for any service or updates. Hopefully tuning will soon follow for the JL with the programmers out.

Hi all, new here.

So a quick question. If I used the Tazer JL to set my jeeps tire size for proper speedometer calibration and then have to remove it when I bring it in to the dealer, does the reprogramming go away until I reattach the Tazer?

You have to unmarry it from your Jeep, which returns it to stock. Once you get it back from the dealer reinstall it, marry it back to your Jeep, then make the same adjustments that you did before for your speedometer.

You’ll love it! It’s very easy to use, and there are so many things you can do with it.

Pretty happy with the Tazer for tire size, TPMS changes, etc. I'm probably doing it wrong but one feature I want but doesn't seem to work is the sway bar disconnect in 2WD. Tried it this past weekend while driving on miles of dirt roads and just got the warning that disconnect is unavailable in 2WD mode.

Tazer manual - "Sway Bar in 2WD: Press the Sway bar button while in 2WD and it will disconnect or re-connect as if it were in 4WD. It will automatically re-connect at 30MPH and disconnect when the Jeep comes back to a full stop."

I interpret to mean I should just be able to hit the sway disconnect under 30mph and it should disconnect? Not sure how I can be doing this one wrong? Do you have to be at a complete stop to engage this? Any ideas?

Wish I could help with that, but don’t have a Rubicon or the sway bar button!

I believe this is a "live" feature. Do you keep the Tazer plugged in while driving? It worked for me as described, but I did push the button as I was standing still at a light. It then re-connected everytime I went above 30, and disconnected anytime below 30.

The bypass actually allows you to change the tire size, not the Tazer that you plug into the OBDII port. Down load he features and you will see the "live mode" only requires Tazer. Bypass allows other standard functions. Once set, they will stay.

How would I connect both a tazer left in but also be able to keep a gps/cell tracker plugged in to obdii 2 port?

I wouldn’t do it without talking to zautomotive first. They should be able to you that it safe to do, or not. I’ve seen problems before when people used a tuning device while having something else connected to the OBD2 port. The last thing you want to do is mess up your pcm and have your Jeep hauled into the dealership because it won’t run.

@Akbill

Do you presently own a Tazer JL or are thinking of purchasing?

Purchase a Tazer JL LIte as it does not use the OBDll port. And then.... hopefully your gps/cell tracker will live/coexist peacefully with the Tazer JL Lite and your JL.
