Hmm, I don't recall any issue.. and in what way did it not go perfectly when it happened to you?
Sound through the UConnect would cycle up and down, I couldn't program the steering wheel buttons, and other things just wouldn't stick.

The manual is very weak on instructions for programming the three usable hot buttons. But maybe because mine is still glitching and missing features.

Was the video of any use on those features, or were they still not there?

I haven’t tried the quick buttons of +, - and Res, but in my menus, there is no Winch setting (which I believe is supposed to be there to set RPMs), and there is also no menu items for the various Brake features. There is also no way to pick what I want my quick buttons to do, and I think I’m supposed to be able to program those three “hot buttons” to do what I want, like a shortcut; I can’t find that either. I promise I read that install PDF like 3 times, word for word, and it was still a bit confusing. I am hyper anal about this kind of stuff; that manual isn’t the greatest, that’s for certain.

I did see a post from 3 years ago about diesel’s having some of these issues, but that was before Z Auto had finalized their diesel programming. From that thread, it appeared that they worked it all out.

I emailed the company. I will try to reload the software update this weekend; I haven’t been able to get to it yet. Like Ratbert, I’m hoping that maybe it glitched (although I did it twice I think), and it will be resolved once I start that process over.

Thank you guys for the video links and the feedback. This is why I love the forums.

For me I just press left arrow, on the left hand side, and then Resume on the right hand side. It takes a couple seconds, and Revs up to 2000 rpms, once the vehicle is on.

As far as setting it to a different rpm, I am not sure as I haven't wanted/needed to change, but perhaps it's there somewhere.

Rock crawl which lock all the brakes is similar, just with the left arrow and then the "Set -" on the right hand side with the vehicle on.

I'm wondering why you bought one that was used. Was it significantly cheaper through a wholesaler after having to pay $50 to get it unmarried / married?

I assume it's now married and you have the live functions available now, right?

I am actually a “dealer” of Tazer through my wholesale relationship with Meyer Distributing. So I buy a lot of this stuff at “cost”. They happen to sell me a used one; it was not my intention. Evidently one of their customers must have returned my Tazer after marrying it, and they didn’t know it needed to be unmarried. So I paid the $50, and now Meyer is giving me a $50 refund on my purchase price. Make sense? It was just an oversight on their behalf.

I buried my mother today; it’s been a long week. I will reflash the software this weekend, when I come up for air. I emailed Z auto too, and have not heard back. I’m glad that yours is working perfectly John; that gives me hope. I thought that maybe this was just a diesel glitch. I’m dying for the ESS feature more than any other feature (although I am enjoying the rear camera on with the blinker, considering the AEV Fuel Caddy does indeed block everything out the back window. (Yes, you told me so, ha!)

The first thing we did after lessons at this week's AEV event was to drive to the dunes. It was about half a mile and we had to do it in reverse. Yeah, you're pretty well blind through the rearview mirror.

Update from Z Automotive: the Winch feature is currently disabled for Diesel models (software 11.4.4). They’re working on a fix.

He didn’t give me a definitive answer on my ESS not holding; I will reflash the software.

Thank you my friend. This is my first parent to go; and it was a tough week. I appreciate the kind words.
It’s awful. My wife lost her father last year and it has been very hard. I feel for you, don’t be afraid to lean on any support you have. Best of luck to you and your family, it does get “easier” though the grief does come back in waves still, just less frequently.

I removed my Tazer JL last week before a dealer appointment. Once removed, the center dash screen/radio/GPS/clock/etc would not turn on. It was dead. I did not unmarry it, just unplugged the Tazer.

I reinstalled the Tazer JL, and all was back to normal, started the Jeep, and all was back to normal. I did this twice with same outcome.

Question: do I have to unmarry the Tazer to temporarily remove it for a dealer visit and still have my center screen available?

Did you reconnect the cables to the security gateway module? You should be able to disconnect the Tazer and run without it as long as you reconnect the SGM.

You shouldn't lose your center screen simply by disconnecting the Tazer, as mentioned above.

However, you should ALWAYS unmarry the Tazer before a dealer visit.

After unmarrying, ALWAYS perform 2 full sleep cycles.
