Does WINCH MODE work on your Tazer JL on your diesel? Even with the latest firmware it's no workie. Everything else seems ok...

Hasn't worked for me since 11.2.7.
I have so many freaking DTC's it is stupid. All of them are from the Tazer.

Are those occurring only on your diesel or your JL gasser as well. I run the Banks set up, thought about piggybacking with the Taser JL. If I had lockers the Taser would be a stronger interest to me but like yourself I've heard similar stories of associated problems.

I only have the Tazer on mine, diesel, and every time I try the winch mode, it revs up to about 1500 rpm and there’s nothing I can do to get it back to regular idle. I’ve tried several times, it really pi$$es me off!!! I basically have to uninstall then reinstall the Tazer to get back to normal idle. Brutally aggravating!! I wanted to use it while it was -38C and I was waiting while my wife was in a store.
Even shutting the Jeep off letting it go to sleep, then restarting, high idle still!!!!

As for the DTC's? I have only used the Tazer to update tire size, Updated to a 8.4 radio with offroad pages in the wifes 2019 3.6 Sport 27 DTC's after that. In my 22 3.0 I have reverted back to stock on everything and updated wheel size and other options through Alfaobd. Both rigs have been to the dealer for oil changes and the advisor has always questioned about all the stored faults.

I did like it for brake hold, sway bar disconnect and rear locker in 2WD. Other than that it is worthless to me. For the record I am running a Banks iDash with Derringer and pedal monster.

I have noticed my tazer will go wonky if I use my odb2 dongle and monitor gauges via my iPhone. I have to remove the connections from the tazer to effectively reboot it to clear things up. As long as I don't have anything in the odb2 port it seems to work fine however I really only use it to deactivate the start/stop bs. High idle has been flaky for awhile now.

It worked when I activated it. I installed it last February. I haven't had it out since so I don't know what version it is on.

The only reason I keep the Tazer is for the manual high speed fan option. It really works and helps keep the temp under control. Other than that, the Tazer is mostly just a gimmky (expensive) toy with funky features that are buggy and sometimes just don't work. I've said before the Tazer just isn't ready for prime time... Ya gotta remember so many button pushes it's like programming an old VCR.

If it wasn't for the fan option, I could see myself taking it off. Most of the stuff I never use.

Just installed mine tonight on my 2023 diesel. I couldn’t find Winch Mode at all, nor any of the brake modes. Also, isn’t keeping my start/stop button in the off position (which was one of the main reasons I bought it). Thoughts? I AM using a GPS tracker in my OBD2 port; I’ll try unplugging that tomorrow. Thanks.

I have the Lite version. I use(d) to keep the ESS in off mode. I also have corrected for tire OD and adjusted the TPMS alarm numbers down from the factory 36 psi due to larger tires. ESS must be off when you shut off the ignition, then the Taser remembers that.

Yes, ESS was off when I was turning it off, and it kept resetting to on.

I also saw TPMS but didn’t really get how to change the number, which was set at like 36 (and I’m at 32 psi with 37ā€ KO2s). So I will check that again today. Is there a way to turn it off for when I air down? Thanks.

As I recall, you have to go "into" TPMS to lower the PSI numbers. There is a bottom number which may still be too high if you air down below that. Although that would be a reminder to stop and air up before going back to blacktop.

I’m wondering if it will be beeping or something the entire time I’m aired down, or just a message on the EVIC? Because it was at 36 psi, and I’m well below that, I’m surprised I wasn’t already getting the message. But maybe they’re just where the Tazer started; I’ll lower it today to like 28 and see what happens. Thanks for the info.

I have a Tazer on my mod’d Sport to deal with tire size, gears etc and has worked pretty much flawlessly. For the Start/Stop what it doe sis remember the last position of the ESS button on th vehicle over Jeep restarts. Basically if you turn it off it stays off over Jeep restarts unless you toggle it back on. I use that to keep ESS off and it works flawlessly - I canā€˜t remember if you have to first turn on via the Tazer but that will be in the instructions. For winch mode I keep meaning to implement but haven’t done that so can’t comment. Also make sure you have the latest firmware installed to get all the fixes and features. Now if it is not working on winch mode I would contact Z-Automotive via text as they instruct and the owner is very responsive to that mode of contact. When I first got the Tazer I had an issue with fit of the Tazer and he addressed it very quickly.
