Love my new Jeep! Not in love with the way it drives. Picked it up from the dealer with 41 lbs in the tires. Got it home and lowered to 24 for the beach. Drove it around for 4 days on and off the beach at 24. Raised to 32 for the 130 mile trip back to work. Got out of the Jeep and into the work car (2019 Charger) and was like man, this thing is relaxing to drive.

I just seem busy in the Jeep. Always correcting to keep it from wandering in the lane. It's kinda like a helicopter, you are constantly busy flying that thing. I know it's a Jeep and I know Jeeps drive different.

Anyone else feel like that? Maybe it's just something I have to get used to.

Yeah. I knew what I was getting into but it's still something I notice switching between my dd (Lexus GX) and the Jeep.

I will say, throwing on the full steer smarts steering setup with the falcon adjustable stabilizer helped immensely. I'm basically driving with the stabilizer on firm all the time. I'm also planning to push the castor to 6° which should help too.

Jake, That just comes with the Jeep. Your selection in your post I assume means you have an Unlimited and that sure tracks better than a 2 Door like mine. I feel your thoughts about the amount of action/attention needed to drive a Jeep. It’s there and even more so for a fellow like me that has a Stick Shift, and that with a poor spread of gears.

But…..For me this is probably my last Jeep, my last stick shift, and something that I will pass on to one of my Grand Kids.

Nope. 70 mile round trip drive to work and home every workday. Been driving a Wrangler since 2013 (JKU and now JLUR).

Don’t care about MPG or driving characteristics. It is the most satisfying and fun ride that I have and I have a few choices.

Try driving someone else’s Jeep and compare to see if you get the same result.

I know what you mean but it comes with driving a Jeep. When I drive my wives '22 Mercedes SUV it's effortless. I had a gen 2 Viper for a few years, like my Jeeps, requires some attentive driving but I absolutely enjoy it!

I would recommend installing the Mopar LCA's, $85 & 30 minutes of your time can help with the drivability.

Call me crazy, but I don’t feel like mine drives all that different from my 4Runner. Maybe it’s cause my 4R has heavy springs, but I find my Jeeps ride more comfortable and I don’t feel like it floats all over the lane while on the highway, needing constant correction either. ??‍

Good point!

I drove a 4Runner a few years back: every single expansion joint and road imperfection made the steering and the suspension lose their composure. It was so WEIRD!

The Jeep rides soft and and the steering feels vague, but it just drives over all that stuff without losing its cool.

I feel ya man. I traded my '02 Xterra with 250k+ miles on it and fully clapped out suspension with a poor mans lift on it (lift shackles in the rear and tighten the torsion bars to get ~1.5") and 33s. Thing was pretty floaty but manageable.

I picked up my 23 2 door in the rain and on the way to dinner from the dealer I was questioning my purchase. Thing drove like wet dog ass and was all over the place, I knew about the tire pressure and after dinner found a place to get out of the rain and lower to ~34psi and it was better but not good. I dropped them again to about 30 and it was much better and some of my apprehension went away. But it wasnt until I got it off road that I was 100% sure this was the vehicle for me. She just feels like cheating coming from the Xterra and now that Im used to driving it and have worked out some bugs I wont go back.

I notice the same thing after driving my 328d all week to work and then hoping the Jeep on the weekends. The Jeep is not unbearable to drive, but the car is noticeably more comfortable and can take corners like it is on rails which makes it fun to drive through the twisty backroads of my 40 mile commute. Plus the 45 mpg combined I get out of the diesel in the car is way better than the 25 mpg combined from the diesel in the Jeep.

My Ram 2500 diesel is another story. Driving my Jeep is more comfortable than that bouncing Betty unless it has a load behind it. Although the 2500 is more fun to drive due to the 550rwhp/1,100rwtq on tap. The only time the Jeep is more fun to drive is when the doors and top are off. That is until the emissions stuff "falls off". Steering wise, the Ram feels much better. More firm and not as many wheel corrections.

Mine needs correcting sometimes too. However, I have learned that the steering is a bit touchy and sometimes it’s me more than the Jeep. Granted all that goes out the window if I’m on the bay bridge over open water on a bad wind day lol. Putting the Mopar LCAs and lowering tire pressure definitely helped though. Not sure where the caster is sitting since it’s an XR. May swap to adjustable one day but for now it’s all good.

Drives more like a vehicle from a bygone era, more driver input and more attention. While it is more labor intensive, I find it enjoyable and engaging as I feel more connected to the road and more in tune with my surroundings.

It’s also a matter of perspective though, my commute to work is only 13 miles. My last vehicle which I had for over 13 years was a a Toyota Tundra.

I can understand that people with longer commutes and whose previous car was a luxury vehicle might not get the same enjoyment as I do.

No, mine doesn't need much correction actually. Drives well, but might be a difference of been driving Wrangler for several years and just don't notice.

I feel the opposite. Compared to my GX, it’s not much different in drive comfort. In fact, I love the seats much more than the GX. I just did a 14 hours drive and my bottom end was not sore at all. 8 hours in the GX, and I’m needing a rest stop.
No noticeable wandering either. Overall, nothing much different than other SUV/Crossovers. I refuse to drive a sedan in the land of lifted trucks and SUV’s I live in, so can’t comment on that.

I drove a 2017 Caravan GT for work. I put about 10,000 miles a month on it.

get back in my Jeep and I love the way it feels. It rides better than the van, and it has a more plush feel. Didn’t feel that way from the factory though.
