It's loud.

I love my soft top, I put it in Sunrider mode all the time, and I never take the windows out. No problems, super easy.

Ok, one problem... at highway speed, it's lound, and I can't hear the radio. So for the highway, I now just leave the top up, and adjust the windows on the door.

It may be loud, however the guy in his no-door JK did not seem to care, he was doing 80 when I passed him doing 85 in my JL.
Is it louder than removing the hard top with the freedom panels removed?

Until this thread I had never seen a "User Guide" for the 2019 Wrangler, just the actual manual and the few documents that actually came with mine when I bought it. Not saying @Macchiato is full of it by any means, but what is that piece of crap literature?
I got the User Guide, it's crap. You didn't miss anything.

The Jeep is just not that complicated, and you can figure out what things do if you are handy, which most Jeepers are.

Yup!

In my experience YES!!!! Totally topless or soft top down is pretty much as expected, sunrider with windows creates a lot of noise.

Thanks, I think Django would too (though I'd have to "hard wire" him to something with a harness) and I certainly would. I'll have to check it out at a dealer one of these days, just hate dealing with sales guys, LOL.

keep on trucking and phishing ;-)
If you get that far, let me know. We purchased a nice sturdy clip from Amazon that was less than $20. It hooks onto her harness and is the perfect length for the JL. She can't go anywhere (over the edge, that is) but it allows her freedom to move around in the back, as the clip twists 360 degrees. I hate dealing with the sales guys too. I contacted the general manager of our local dealership and told him I didn't want to deal with the sales guys; it worked. He game me an offer on my built-out model and it was done. Note, I did email one dealership and asked for pricing on my built-out model and I could only get them to about $1K more than the general manager, so I knew I had a decent deal.

@JeepCares can you tell us if we can run in sunrider position with the quarter windows on and/or off? There appears to be a discrepancy in the various documentation provided by FCA, and clarity on which is correct would be appreciated.

I have heard that there are many females who find a "dangerous man" to be sexually attractive. Perhaps, on a date, one could jump out at a stop light and flip the top into sunrider mode - with the windows still in. Then, casually reference to said lady that the owners manual, may or may not allow such wanton behavior. Your flippant disregard for the restraints of society will suggest you are both spontaneous and mysterious thus arousing the desires of the female.

Alas, I am already spoken for, but I offer such suggestions to you younger lads out there who may need the advice of a more seasoned gentleman in your pursuit of a lady's affections - or dare I suggest, the opportunity for coitus.

Perfectly said.

Maybe you should have read the whole thread moron. I posted photos of the front of my 2019 manual. I posted pics of the index showing actual page numbers where soft top is on and posted pics of those exact pages. Epic fail on your part.
Diego..first some disclaimers so you know I'm not trolling you.
  • I very much wish FCA to side with you on this.
  • I don't take my soft windows out when riding the soft top in Sunrider position and have never had a problem.
  • I concede that you provided supplemental literature that clearly indicates that said removal of windows is not required when riding in Sunrider position.
  • I concede that opening the soft top to Sunrider position being bad, but opening the door windows okay is somewhat contradictory, as you've said.

but...
  • I believe the manuals, both 2018 and 2019, which if "push comes to shove" in court: be it someone litigating a JL owner because their soft windows came off while riding in Sunrider position, and it negatively affected their driving behind you, or a JL owner litigates FCA for damages as a result of doing this....will be the deciding factor, as all non-manual literature I've seen, including your supplement, say refer to the manual for more details.
  • I believe my actions of keeping the soft windows on in Sunrider position, repeated successfully by many, go against this de facto owner's manual product literature.

Perhaps, maybe, the supplement you reference might serve as good evidence in court, if being sued by another motorist, to assign some of the blame over to FCA, with the otherwise bigger pockets. But in cases where FCA is the sole defendant against the owner, use of the supplement in evidence would be a harder mountain to climb I'd guess.

I do appreciate and believe this discussion though to be mostly academic. Your telling people your opinion, not what to do. : - )

Hi Dogboyslim,
We recommend referring to your Owner's Manual for the proper instructions on in how to use the sunrider position. In this case, the Owner's Manual (page 117 for 2018 JL's and page 119 for 2019 JL's) instructs you to remove the rear window and quarter panel windows. If you'd like to view the online version of the Owner's Manuals, you may click on the following links:

2019: https://msmownerassets.z13.web.core...blications/en-us/Jeep/2019/Wrangler/10390.pdf
Please let me know if you need any clarification!

Can you speak to the discrepancy about this with the sticker quoted earlier that has a red X through running sun-rider without quarter panel windows, and the same contrary information printed in the 2019 user guide, also posted?

As the OP, I am designating myself arbiter.

@Macchiato ,

The sticker on your vehicle is not telling you to run your Jeep in sunrider position without windows, it is telling you to not to attempt to muscle the top from sunrider to fully down by forcing it toward the rear of the vehicle (hence red arrow pointing rearward) without releasing the latch in the rear of the soft top. At least one person replied saying they do not have this sticker. Many have bent their softop frames by attempting to do this. I’m sure that is why this warning was added.

The supplemental guide you photographed in your original post clearly contradicts the instructions in the Owner’s Manual. No one else has responded saying they got the same booklet. I know I didn’t with my Jeep built in February, so maybe it’s something brand new. Can you please photograph the front cover of the supplemental guide where it shows the contradictory information advising to skip to steps 3 and 4 for sunrider mode? WHEN YOU POST IT MAKE SURE IT IS RIGHT SIDE UP PLEASE!

Lastly, your Jeep came with this supplemental booklet as well as a User’s Guide. A User’s Guide is not the same thing as an Owner’s Manual. If it were the same thing, the first page wouldn’t give instructions on how to view the Owner’s Manual, nor would it continually instruct you to “refer to the owner’s manual”. The actual Owner’s Manual for 2019 can be found using the following link, which was also shared by several other people in this thread including JeepCares (it is 694 pages long, whereas your User’s Guide is 294 pages):

https://msmownerassets.z13.web.core...blications/en-us/Jeep/2019/Wrangler/10390.pdf

I’m glad you shared this booklet and I wish things didn’t get so confused. @JeepCares needs to address why Jeep is including literature contradicting the Owner’s Manual.
