At under 1000 miles it’s under warranty, take it to the dealer. The code listed isn’t related to the start/stop system. I’d be calling the local dealers and drop it off have them put you in a loaner until your Jeep is ready.

If the code has no relation to the start stop error . .. any chance this is a simple electrical or software issue ?

I did check the fuses, tons were loose, however maybe I missed one ?

Could fuses alone cause this ?

Your code has no relation to any fuses, there are several fault codes that when stored in the pcm will also prevent start/stop from functioning. This code is one of them. Take it to the dealer. You can take it to any Jeep dealer for warranty work, call around and find which one will get it the quickest and have them give a loaner.

Any chance a loose gas cap could cause the cel code ? trying to avoid the dealer at all costs. . I now remember, I only clicked the gas cap once... how many times does it click, 5-6 like a Chevy, or once like a Toyota ?

It happened about 20 minutes after getting gas ... it was the next day, but 20 minutes of driving since I got gas .. .

*** UPDATE *** started the Jeep after taking the gas cap off, and clicking it two times .. after 20 minutes the @! message went away. It no longer gives the "service start stop system"

the CEL is still on however. . Going to have the auto parts store clear it and see if it comes back ..

It doesn't hurt to try, but I did a little digging, and I don't see much chance that the gas cap is connected to code P1404. It's an EGR code. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve is part of how the vehicle manages emissions. These things blow exhaust gasses around, and they tend to get crapped up with carbon over time, but you said you have less than 1,000 miles on your Jeep. It's highly unlikely to be a carbon problem, so it's probably an electrical problem.

I don't know exactly where the EGR valve is on these things, but quick skimming uncovered one post where a guy said it wasn't too bad to reach if you remove the fender flare. Yeah, on a Jeep with 1,000 miles on the clock, I'm thinking it's dealership time.

Good luck! I mean that most sincerely.

So I cleared the code with a scanner again. .. Now on Sunday, the CEL came back on after clearing within 10 seconds.

This time, I went for a 15 minute drive, and all is good! no CEL code, no start / stop error .. going to run some more errands later, if code is still off, I guess I'm good ?

Will post updates ..

Drove another hour or so .. still no CEL ... I'm going to say that was the fix. . .If the lights come on again I'll post back.

I went through a 48v e torque start/stop system unavailable message too. Here is what I learned:
My issue was a shorted out solar sensor (the little sensor on top of the dash) and HVAC control module. Most likely my fault, but I didnt admit that. All was replaced under warranty after a2 weeks and many consults with Jeep engineers. Everything on the Jeep has to go through self checks, if something fails a self check, it throws a code. Now depending on what system failed, it will affect start/stop as a precautionary measure. This prevents the engine from stopping and having the POTENTIAL of not restarting. In my case the HVAC control module failed, so the system did not know if the cabin temperature was too high or too low, hence causing the start/stop system to show disabled. Start/stop being disabled will not harm your Jeep, but it is a good indicator that there is a trouble fault in the system, which usually manifests as a code. BTW autozone and the like cannot read all the codes on the system, I also learned that. At the very least take your Jeep to the service dept. They can read you codes right there in the bay. Much to people's ignorance, it is actually a pretty smart system. That is why we hear more issue with the non e torque aux battery systems.
at least that is my opinion and the Jeep engineer I spoke with.

My hubby recently left my jeep in acc mode over night. After charging the battery I now get the @! Error at startup. I too would love some possible solutions.

Are you sure both batteries are fully charged?

How do I tell? I see 12.7v on the battery display...but guessing that is only the primary battery
Is that while the Jeep is running? Because the alternator should be pushing more like 14v.
