I am looking to upgrade the factory alpine sub in my 2021 JL. I just want a little more bass than it currently has, without getting a whole new box or getting too in the weeds with the wiring.

I was looking at this.

I have tried to look up anyone who has done this upgrade and see if it made much of a difference. Or if anyone has any other options that are plug-n-play, i'd be open to suggestions.

I know it's a little more than you've asked for but, the JL stealthbox is booming loud. I have the passenger side with a 200w amp and couldn't be happier.

How easy is it to install? I wanted a more plug and play kind of solution, in terms of the amp and sub install.

There are a couple options to plug it all in. Best is to tap into the back of the head unit although it requires some dash removal. It is not as intimidating as you'd think.

That one is meant to go with their speaker upgrade. By itself it really isn't a simple plug and play option.

You can run it but you will need a line out converter to feed the amp. The factory Alpine sub is a quad voice coil and you cannot sum the four lines out of the amp. I have that sub in addition to the Stage 6 kit. I replaced the AmpPro with a Rockford DSR-1 with the CH4 adapter and PLC knob and it kicks pretty well for it's size.

You would just need the PAC Chrysler Sub interface mostly. Everything else would be (sort of) p-n-p from that point. Its a sub so wouldn't need much if anything else to tune it.

Yo Jeff, can you expand on this Stealthbox at all? I searched it but it appears there's more than one option. I do not have the subwoofer option in my JL but I am looking for a way to get an amp and sub installed. I won't have the typical spot to add them since I am installing the Diabolical box in the rear. Any idea if I'll need more than just an amp and sub since it didn't come with it? As a youngster I was always doing my own audio installs in my vehicles but it's been a couple of children and 30 years since I've taken a head unit out. I'd just as soon do it all myself since I've done everything else in it myself and an audio install place will cost more money. Any thoughts for my rig? 21 JLU, passenger under seat already taken.

The diabolical will present a problem for you if you want the stealthbox. JL makes them for the passenger and drivers side and I believe in either 2 or 4 ohm. My JL started as the base 5" radio. Added a 5 channel amp to power 2 dash, 2 sound bar, and 1 sub. Years ago I was 100% JL, PPI, and MBQ in all my cars. This setup for my JL is much less power than my old style but still delivers great sound with clean bass sound from the sealed box. I did also upgrade the 4 speakers to JL coax in the same size dash and a 6.5" in the sound bar.

Probably more than your looking for but I did a full upgrade without changing head unit. 200 AMP alpine amp, all speakers changed out and added an alpine amp behind the passenger seat in a custom cover. I had it installed...stopped doing my own work years ago. Total cost approx. $2600. Sounds exactly how I wanted it.

So, not one manufacturer makes a plug and play upgrade?
No because it’s a non common size. Something like 11 inches in diameter. I have the Quart sub with the rest of the kit. Also tried a JL Audio shallow mount and it was a bit boomy because the factory and the Quart sub use the rear bolt and that allows the sub frame to used as internal bracing. Also because someone engineer decided to make the sub with 4 voice coils. When I installed the quart system three years ago, I bridged the coils with the Quart amp and was adequate but the Quart sub is better.
