Hello,

I am by no means an audio wiring expert. At all. I just would love some help on getting everything together. Here is what I am installing:
  • JBL Club 9632 - 6x9 - Roll Bar
  • Kicker 47KSC3504 - 3 1/2 - Dash
  • Kicker 46CSC674 - 6 3/4 - Knee
  • Kicker 46HS10 - Powered Subwoofer
  • I currently have the 7" stock head unit.
I got the dash in already, I'm not terribly concerned with installing speakers. Thats all straightforward. My problem comes from the Kicker 46HS10. I am a little confused about the install with wires. Here are my concerns/questions:
  • The instructions that came with it mention ground from battery to "bare metal chassis ground" - Is this already done? Or do I have to buy something additional?
  • Crutchfield had me purchase the Kicker KISL: I am assuming so I don't have to splice into the wires? If that is the case, is it better to use the RCA connectors to the back of the head unit? Or is it suggested to splice into the speaker wires and do away with the RCS adapter?
  • If I do the splice option, can someone show me EXACTLY where they did the splice? The linked thread from below has the wiring diagram.
The wiring is my biggest concern. I can pretty much figure out the rest. The information from https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/simple-subwoofer-upgrade.108432/ has been SUPER helpful but I just need a little more clarification.

Any help would be WONDERFUL.

Thank you!

Is there any way to mount this under the rear seats in JLU? I don't have the factory sub, and because of our Jeep lifestyle, we use a Tuffy security enclosure in the back, so I don't have room in the rear for a sub. During the summer we leave the doors and top off so I need something fairly water proof (we park in the garage but get caught in rain occasionally).
I am wanting to build a box under there so it can't be stolen but not sure where to start.

Sorry I just threw this in there instead of creating a new thread. Any advice would be awesome.

I wish it would fit but sadly it will not. If you want to go under the rear seat you will have to either buy something small or build a custom enclosure.

I'm very interested to see how this turns out for you. I've been to one high end shop in the last week and they indicated to me that as soon as i start doing a speaker swap, I'll need another amp to drive them or it's going to sound horrible. They started out with an Alpine $800 dsp amp and that doesn't include 6 hours to wire plus the other cables required to make wiring easier. They estimated $2k before i even put speakers in. My JL has the sub in the back, can I upgrade speakers only and expect to have better sound quality than i currently have? I assume by upgrading the factory amp, it'll sound better but i have no need to spend $2k on a dsp amp install. Thoughts? LIke the OP, i'm not sound expert, but i want better sound than i have and don't have a 3k budget.
