Thanks for the heads up. My current 4" factory speakers with my aftermarket head unit produce some bass. Its not subwoofer level bass but its decent. I read that if I replace those 4" speakers id lose that. I didnt want to lose what I do have.

This tells me stick with only replacing the 3.5" speakers. But thanks for confirming id lose the small amount of bass I do have if I replace them with an after market speaker
To be honest, I didn't notice much bass on the OEM either. They're pretty basic. If you want noticable bass then get a sub, if you want louder/crisper then just replace the OEM with the Kickers. I just had to do it because the OEMs sounded like shit especially with the top down, but didn't want to bass out like I was a teenager again lol.

You wont on the factory head unit. It sounds like crap in general. Even with the Premium Sound System. I have 10" Android Head unit with a built in DSP. On the Factory unit there was no bass whatsoever. With the aftermarket unit and the DSP its night and day.

How much Bass do I have with the new CS speakers and Head Unit? About the same as pure factory Premium Sound System. My jeep sounded better than my buddys 2021 Jeep JT with the stock Premium Sound System. A built in DSP can do a lot. So he replaced all his speakers with the Kicker KS using the Plug & Play kit from Trail Seven and bought the same Head Unit I have and copied my DSP settings. Now his sounds WAY better. You can feel his Bass just standing next to the Truck lol

I may try KS 4" since you didnt notice any due to having the Factory Head unit. But I did Try replacing the 3.5" 4" with the Kicker CS 6.5" using the Plug and Play Trail 7 kit. It was worse than just replacing all 4 3.5" speakers with Kicker CS while leaving the Factory 4". I just was curious about also replacing the 4" with the KS.

At some point Im going to get the Kicker 10" hideaway Sub/Amp kit from Plug and Play kit Trail Seven to go with my Android head unit. Just need to wait till I can afford to do it right. Id rather spend big once and do it right than constantly spend $$ here and there tweaking it

UPDATE:
Here is the video. Id watch it in 4k and Listen with good headphones or sound system. This is what that head unit with Kicker CS speakers and No Sub/No Amp sounds like. There is Bass. It's not great but it's there. Sadly this was recorded on a cell phone

Just finished swapping out the factory Wrangler JL speakers for a Kicker speaker upgrade. No amp, just a quick and easy replacement of the OEM speakers to the factory head unit ...and they sound great.

Total time is 45-60 minutes (about 5-10 mins per speaker). I changed the 2 dash corner speakers and 4 soundbar speakers but left the knee speakers alone.

With the Metra cables this was 100% plug and play. I went with the 4 inch Kicker KS speakers for the soundbar since it comes with a mounting bracket that perfectly fits the Wrangler JL (and it's their premium speaker). Then, I used the 3.5 inch Kicker CS speakers for the corner dash and soundbar because they do not require crossovers and fit perfectly (note: the 3.5 inch KS model requires crossover wiring and is a pain, so that's the main reason I went with the CS 3.5 inch models).

Added poly-fil ($5 bag from Walmart) and had almost the entire bag left over. You probably only need 4 ounces of it.

These speakers sound great and are much louder and crisper than the stock speakers. They are punchy, but not a lot of low bass. Good mid bass sound with clarity. I turned the treble to -3 to reduce the bright sound. Added a pic of the equalizer setting that I thought sounded best.

Overall, if you want better sound without an expensive professional upgrade (amp, sub, etc.) then I recommend these for fit, ease of install, price, and sound.

They sell these on Amazon but I went with Crutchfield since they included the plug n' play Metra cables for free (need to talk with agent on chat or phone). Overall, $160 total price for everything. Great price for new upgraded sound.

The Crutchfield site (and other sites) say these speakers don't fit but they do! I think the dimensions might be off by like 1/18 of an inch or something and their system doesn't tag it as an "official fit". There are several YouTube videos of others installs as well as my pics here.

Here's the speakers and cables:
(1 pair) Kicker 47KSC404 4" speaker (for soundbar)
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20647KSC40/Kicker-47KSC404.html

(2 pairs) Kicker 46CSC354 3.5" speakers (for the front corner dash and soundbar)
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CC354/Kicker-46CSC354.html

(1) Metra 72-6514 Speaker Wiring Harness (for the 4" KS soundbar speakers)
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120726514/Metra-72-6514-Speaker-Wiring-Harness.html

(2) Metra 72-7902 Speaker Wiring Adapters (for the 3.5" dash and sounbar speakers).

(1) bag of Poly-fil for sound barrier (optional)

Hey OP - what's this you talk about for 3.5 KS it needs a crossover? I just purchased the 3.5 KS to replace the L/R dash. Got them from Crutchfield with the free Metra adaptors, but I had to swich the wires to match the polarity correctly. Is there something else I need to know about the KS with the crossover, or should I return these for the CS?

Just to clarify these upgrades are for the 7” base stereo without the alpine system correct?

My plan is to install the Terra Acoustics front sound stage and a set of the Trail 7 JLJT pods with kicker KS series 6.5” or 6.75” coaxial speakers.

Cost a bit more but truly plug and play simplicity.

Any overheat messages from the head unit? Presumably it’s pushing 2 ohm (two 4 ohm speakers in parallel) instead of standard 4 ohm (two 8 ohm speakers in parallel)?

Thanks so much for posting! I just got my Willys that had stock speakers, and they sounded terrible. I copied everything you listed above and am so impressed with the improvement.

Nice. Yeah, I didn't want to go with the 6.5 inch since it involves cutting new holes and getting brackets. Maybe in my younger days too lol. So I went with the plug and play option. Maybe I'll get an amp one day or a new head unit with amp built in. Current setup seems to have plenty of power/sound.
Select increments adapters don’t require cutting! 15min job per side
