Did a search on here and found a few threads, but couldn't get an exact answer. Planning to do spark plugs on my 3.6 soon (just hit 102k miles). I know I'll need spark plugs (going with NGK Laser Iridiums), do I need the set of upper manifold gaskets? I have read mixed opinions on if they are reusable. Not opposed to changing them, but if I need to, is OEM required or would Mahle or fel pro work? Don't think I'm going to touch the oil filter housing, no leaks yet on mine, I'm sure if I replace it, it will leak.

Thanks!

Yes, plus I suggest that you use only MOPAR OEM parts. It would also be a good idea to change the ignition coils, and PCV Valve.

Unless you are having an issue with a coil, I would not replace them. They should last a lot longer than your current milage.. If you do have a 2018 like your bio says, I would do plugs, PCV valve, Intake gaskets, and go ahead and do that oil filter housing/cooler while you are there. At least get the updated design with the New OEM part. I would get the OEM Mopar parts only. I just did mine at 79k miles

Mahle is the OEM. Fel-Pro is just as good, these gaskets never fail. Whichever set you can pick up the quickest and cheapest, the plenum gaskets only.

Who is the OEM for spark plugs on the 3.6L?
Champion. They held up well but I’ve used NGK for 30 years with no issues so that’s what I felt most confident in.

Based on what? OEM is champion. The plugs the engine is designed for.
Compare the thread cut quality between the NGK and Champion. The NGK has more defined threads. The threads also have a greater polish from plating.

You asked why, he answered. Stop being anal prick.
Either will work, he has reasoning for it and stated it clearly.

Also, engine was designed and that is the plug that runs it, to claim that engine was designed for certain plug is a retardation of the highest order.

Would you pay double the price for spark plugs painted red? There’s no performance benefit from using NGK over champion. The champion plug is the plug that all engine testing would be done with. It is the correct plug.
