For those who have changed their sparkplugs, was it just the plugs needed or other parts too?

What about the spark plug tubes (4893868AB)?

Safe to assume you also need the plenum gaskets (68217514AB) and intake manifold gaskets (68232614AA), any others?

Thanks in advance!

The last 3.6 I changed plugs in we also did the oil filter adapter (JK). The JL is similar, but there are more fiddly bits. We did plugs on a 2019 and I was easily able to reuse the tubes and gaskets. The EGR tube is a pain, and if you are doing it due to miles, it might be smart to do coils too. Just don't forget about the bastard bolt on the passenger rear of the intake. It's hard to see and I forget about until I can't figure out why the intake won't come off.

I've had my intake off 2 times now for the POS coil packs from Ripp (aka Ripp-off) and reused everything.

As for the spark plug tubes, not sure why those would have to be replaced. I'd just replace the plugs on be done with it. All the EGR stuff bolted right back up and have never had a leak.

You don’t need lower manifold gaskets. You only have to pull the upper plenum off for service.

replace the coil boots, add a tiny dab of dielectric grease. Replacing coils is excessive, failure is very rare.

Do you have the part number for the boots?

Also, I was going to change the oil cooler at the same time. I'm assuming I'll need the lower gaskets for that?

Preemptively changing the oil cooler feels really unnecessary, but if you do so then yes you need the lower gaskets.

For whatever reason, at this time it looks like nobody sells the boots separate from the coils. Downright ridiculous. I'd just change the plugs, clean the throttle body, and be done.

Not only is coil failure rare, but you don't need the higher volt coil packs the marketing hype pushes.
A coil, even a giga-coil will only product the voltage that is required to make that spark jump. Most OEM coils have that much and more. There's more to it, like the energy to maintain the spark once started, but you don't need a 10 second spark and it doesn't take 200,000 volts to fire a decent plug.
Hard to imagine that with all of the failures talked about all over the Jeep world that people go for those replacements.
A scope will show how they aren't doing any better than stock.

Thanks man! I have a new oil cooler in my stash (just in case) and will grab the gaskets in case I see the cooler leaking when I get that far into it.

Indeed with COP style coils you don't need 1.21 gigawatt coils. I never bought into the RIPP hype and after so many posted about them failing, even less so...

Of all the vehicles I have owned with coil packs I have never replaced a coil pack. My other car is an Audi A7 with 227,000 miles on it and the original coil packs.
