They are expensive but you are not getting them off without the key or a cutting torch.
$173.00 for four black wheel locks, a 5th lock for the spare wheel, and a 2nd key. This will require several naps before I can decide if the juice is worth the squeeze. ??

The site has seemingly conflicting ad copy:
"All kits are built to order. Please allow 3-5 business days for processing", followed by "Out of stock". The wording of the former suggests the latter would be irrelevant. Maybe an email to the seller would clear things up.

Sheesh i think they were 110 when i ordered mine last year. It was the cheapest thing i could find that offers that much security.

One of our local Jeep dealers says the spares are one of the most replaced items on Wranglers. All due to thefts. I use locking lugs, plus a steel/coated locked cable. Not perfect, but hopefully might either slow a thief down or make them move on to easier pickings.

my 4 day old 2021 JLUR Xtreme Recon (with those awesome wheels and 35” tires) had the spare stolen right from my driveway. The XR wheels are still not available so I’ve had a similar (mopar beadlock) spare in since ?

I've been amusing myself by comparing the price I originally paid for [Accessory X] to its current listed price.

Yes, within the past year, most items have not only risen in price, but some have increased to the point that I wouldn't buy them at today's price.

If only I had the same discretion with gasoline. It was $4.80 last week, breached $5/gal. on Sunday, and is $5.15 today. That number will only increase as a consequence of the concurrent announcement of a ban on Russian oil imports.

----------------
Tangentially, I do have a few things that I'll likely be able to sell at a good price (for me), by virtue of them being more costly to buy new now, or being of out stock due to supply chain issues.

FYI; I have rust on my GORILLA LOCKING LUGS(BLACK). 178.99 for complete set. Live in Fl, no beach or off road since purchase in 2/9/2020. Contacted SUMMIT RACING where I purchased them. Let them know I purchased them because of the forum. Basically was told by email that powder coated lug nuts only warranty for 12 months. True. Just remember. Learned the hard way. Also sent email to Gorilla and expect the same answer.

Lug, hood and gas tank locks, all of which I have, do no more than does the one on your home's door. A lock does no more than keep an honest man, honest.

Honest people do not need to be "kept honest". Those who require such incentivization to behave wouldn't deserve the adjective. ;)

Hood locks and the rest can at least serve as visual deterrents to individuals who, by the very act of considering thievery or vandalism, are disreputable.

I true reality is that there is nothing that is worth less than used Wrangler parts that have removed for upgrades. I only got $1000 for a set of JLUR take-off wheels with less than 1000 miles. I also have a set of rock rails at $25 and the take off diesel suspension at $200 and nothing but crickets. Anyone out there trying to make a living stealing wheels are going to leave Jeeps alone. Not worth the risk. Having said that, I have a lock on the spare....

It's the inability of such parts to be shipped in an economically practical manner, or even at all, that affects their price trends (and where were you when I had to drive in the dark for 40 minutes to pay $80 for a pair of used Rubicon rock rails? ?)

When properly cleaned and photographed, I've had a good run selling used motorcycle accessories for 50 cents on the dollar, sometimes more. That's a great return, but the ability to ship such parts worldwide via comparatively reasonably USPS rates is what makes it very easy for the buyer to grab them via PayPal.

There's any number of JL hard parts in the Owner Marketplace that I've passed on, if only because the driving distance makes their purchase a non-starter for me. That's just the way it is. I was thrilled to find those rock rails in a reasonable distance from me, and I willingly paid the seller his asking price even though his ad said he was accepting offers.

A lot of the time my Jeep is parked overnight in an open parking lot in midtown Los Angeles which is completely accessible by the general public; no gate no security or anything. Fortunately, my jeep has not been vandalized as of yet. I use regular acorn style lug nuts. Though I do have gas and hood locks.

And I am about to scrap them...

Shippability, if that is word, is paramount. I used to sell TV's in the 90's and it was impractical to ship the big screens and all the manufacturers had TV factories in NA. Now they are smaller and easier to ship and they are all made in Chine.
