My parents had a few Fords with tranny issues.
My work uses Fords. All of the explorers have transmission module problems. You put it in gear and the whole vehicle shutters back and forth for several seconds. The next issue was a recall where something in the rear diff was breaking so Fords answer was to make the parking brake engage when it is put in park.

I love my Jeep. The ford makes me appreciate my Jeep even more.

I'll give you those, hell the 6.0 was a pillar of reliability compared to the 6.4. At least the 6.0 can be modded to be an outstanding engine, the 6.4s only value is an an artificial reef or boat anchor.

The Getrag Powershift DCT was quite the blunder. Trying to make a transmission type more befitting of one in an exotic car and apply it to an economy car. The sad thing is that the Focus was a really great little car before that transmission was applied to it. And they just decided to quit making it because the reputation suffered so bad, or because they didn't want to invest in a different transmission. Probably both.

So yeah, I'll agree that it started sooner, let's just say the the downhill grade got steeper around 2018 or so.
The 6.0 "nodded to be a good engine" might make sense if you can pick up a used one cheap enough. But the idea that you only need a new ficm, high pressure oil pump connector, stand pipes, dummy plugs, egr cooler, oil cooler, head studs, and a new turbo to make it reliable at a cost of $10-15k gives Ford a pass is lost on me. It's a good block? You could ls or hemi swap the jl in that ballpark, but I wouldn't imply it was a win on stelantis' part with your new drivetrain.

I love this Jeep more than any of other 5 that I have owned. Only other vehicle I would own is a 4 Runner, but the JL looks and has performed great. I have a few complaints, but when I moved to Utah it was the perfect vehicle.

A good portion of the complaints I see on this forum I think can be attributed to poor dealer support. This is what I fault Stellantis for. They can't be entirely faulted for any JL design or quality issues seeing as how they only bought the company in 2001. However, I do fault them for not taking a more active role in seeing their dealers provide good customer support and fully honor warranty commitments regardless of where the Jeep was purchased.

It's a nice photo, a little too much white for me but her white shoes and shorts accent the photo nicely, along with smooth, shiny legs that run straight up to her (bleep!). I could do without the white bumper though. ?

I agree that stelantis and the dealer networks leave a lot to be desired. I find that's the case with most all dealers though across all brands. Maybe the luxury or exotic brands might be better? I don't even use the free oil changes as the dealer service department is inconvenient and their competence is questionable. Fortunately with that I only go there when I'm buying another Jeep so I don't really care much about the rest of it. The OP bailed out of fear of potential issues, that's a level of worry I'll never understand. My stellar reliability record out of Jeeps might be luck and/or small sample size bias, but I definitely won't ever worry about someone else's broken visor or paint bubbling or whatever might happen. I'll continue to enjoy the hell out of our Jeeps with no fear of reliability even when we take them out to the most remote trails we can find solo. To me this thread is just another sad example of fear and worry running the lives of most people these days. We aren't keeping up with the Jones anymore we are letting their negative experiences hold us back and that's just bizarre to me. Sure you can use the collective experience of others to decide on future purchases, but to use it to scare you out of a vehicle you claim to enjoy that has been trouble free at a huge loss is insane.

@Jeepalady17 Daaaamn, I'm fairly certain you just got the second highest compliment from @Flip

RED lettering, 26 font size, a phrase matching GIF, and a second GIF too boot! ? :involve:?

I don't remember exactly what his highest level of honor is, but I know for sure the things I listed above are high on the list. I believe the only thing higher than "WITNESS" in the world of Mad Max Fury Road, would be "MEDIOCRE". For sure if you got an Immortician Joe gif, I would have to imagine that would be an even bigger compliment, and then possibly if he added a third V8 Cult GIF, I'm pretty sure it would be equal to God like status on your part, in @Flip s eyes. ??

:please:

Yep….my other is my son’s 2014 Ford Focus. Perfect except for several transmission issues, all covered by an extended 10 year warranty provided by Ford. At least Ford stepped up….
I have generally been a fan of Ford as well. My F-150 5.4L Triton had a colossal engine failure at 80K. No warranty but I did drop another engine into it. Cheaper than buying a new truck but a painful pissed off experience none the less.

And there are "suckers" here...those who believe the hype and really think they've got a top notch product at a great value.
insert any manufacturer here in 2022/2023 and soon to be 2024. Modern day vehicles are all garbage. They all have their issues.

16 years original owner of my 2008 JKUX. All original runs perfect. Been a great rig. Very reliable. WTF happened to Jeep? I hear so many complaints about these JL’s. Crazy.

Don't believe everything you hear. We are nearly at 100k miles between the 2 we've owned and no issues. I think it's information age making every issue experienced seem like a global pandemic...

I hear you. Same goes for first generation JK’s. They get a bad rap but mine has been awesome. So have my friends’ JK’s.
