How long does it take most of you to remove the hardtop and install the soft top for the change of season? I just picked up a Mopar soft top and want to plan out the swap with someone to help me.

First time’s take a while. After that, I dunno 15-20 minutes depending on how you get the hardtop off. (Lift, people, etc)

I just did the swap yesterday and about 30 minutes total for me. Make sure you use the soft top cover while installing as my lazy ass did not do. Now I have scratches all over the roll bar from the metal framing. Definitely, advised to install with 2 people as it is a bit cumbersome.

Soft top cover? Mine did not come with one. I bought it used as a take-off from factory delivered soft top jeep.

You offering? Haha...jk, my brother will come over and give me a hand, I just wanted to have an idea how long to decide whether I tackle on a weeknight after work or the weekend.

I wouldn't worry too much on that garbage cover anyhow. just be creative and pad the 2 ends that ride the track and the 2 large mechanisms with the lock/unlock listed. Maybe line the tub rail and back roll bar with towels for temporary protection should work

Agree here - first time I fit the soft top I nicked up the roll bar in a few places. Waiting for warmer weather to apply a bit of touch up for protection.

I have a hoist for the hard top, I suspect roughly 30 minutes or so for my change over in a few weeks.

Plan on an hour the first time. I had to remove the freedom panel brackets when I sold my hardtop, but it can be done much faster.

Also I can’t remember the size of the smaller torx you will need for the door surrounds. Your Jeep tool will do everything else though.

On mine when putting the door surrounds together (top and bottom pieces) it used a way smaller torx than the two that came with the Jeep. Once put together you use the Jeep tool to attach it to the frame.

I have no friends and manage to remove the HT (ratchet straps attached to rafters in the garage) and put on the ST in about 45 minutes. My neighbors are a lot older than me (53yo) or they have noddle arms. LOL

Ok, mine was already assembled I guess? They come off with 2 bolts at the top.
