Has any one had any brake issues on their JL? Mine just turned 11k miles old today in just over 13 months of ownership. The last few weeks I've noticed what I think is a softer than normal brake pedal. I've been fighting with myself and wondering if I'm imagining it or if it's truly getting softer. Anyway, I have an appointment with the dealer in Monday to take a look at it and was wondering if anyone else has had any issues.

brake pressure should not change unless you have a leak in the system or somehow you introduced air into the system and you would have to bleed the system of air bubbles. Wear does not have an impact other than the fluid level decreasing but pressure would be the same. another indicator would be the pedal travel being closer to the floor.

Yeah, I think I have a slow leak somewhere that has let air enter the system at a very slow rate. As a side note, when sitting in a drive thru line with ESS activated, I heard the brake vacuum booster hissing. Does anyone know if that is normal? I'm not sure how the system is supposed to act when the engine is off.

I had my brakes checked at the dealer because of the vacuum pump hissing. I get the hissing for a few seconds every time I press or release the brake pedal. The service tech said he had never heard a car make that noise before, but in the end they came back and said it was normal. I guess it’s just a loud vacuum pump.

You could have a rubber brake line getting soft too. That has caused spongy brake pedal too. I have not seen any makers selling stainless steel braided lines yet for the JL.....

I took the Jeep in today. They checked it out, bled the brakes and tested it. They said it seemed to be working "as designed". They compared it to another 2018 and said they both felt the same. The guy I was dealing with did say that it felt soft to him as well but there were no STAR cases on it. He is going to check with the service manager and told me to keep an eye on it. He said they would run it up to Chrysler if needed. The pedal did seem a bit firmer when I picked it up, but I haven't really had much of a chance to test it out.

He didn't outright say he thought there was an issue, but he certainly seemed to be willing to take it to the next level if need be.

I have noticed on the last couple of weeks that my brakes feel soft. I park in my garage and there is no indication of a leak. It’s kinda scary when stoping is quickly and it seems like I am pushing the brake pedal to the floor. Probably going to bring it into the dealer to get checked.

Hi digitalbliss and Rubi22,
We understand why this is concerning. If either of you would like some additional assistance while your Jeeps are at the dealer, please send our team a private message!

I have a 2018 JLU Rubicon.. same issues. I've checked my pads, bleed the brakes , changed the fluid .. same result. Although I did find a little air in the lines and helped a little. But still goes to the floor with in 5-7 seconds.. I took it in , they order and installed a master cylinder. Got it back and it was the same. The mechanic said he felt it was the way they functioned. I'm having a hard time with that . He did offer to replace the booster to see if that helped but I was low on time. Anyone find a fix? I'm worried that when crawling down rocks I'm gonna run out of peddle. Not that the brakes wont work. But that they wont be as precise as they should be. I've sent a message to the folks here.
I've driven other jeeps and have a a new Ram and 2 other new cars. None of them act this way.
Thanks
Mark

The booster is what I suspect is the issue.

I dont know exactly how they work. But I do know that when I bleed my brakes with the jeep off. They are perfect.. may be on to something. I wish I knew more and that someone had tried it. I'm going to re bleed them tomorrow.. orob have them order me a booster. Cant hurt me at this point either then my time.

Did you ever confirm this?

After I installed the Teraflex Delta Brake kit, I'm experiencing soft pedal and extended pedal travel on the initial press. After doing some research, I think the TF brakes are exacerbating a pre-existing issue, rather than the root cause of the issue.

No, but after further research, a bad booster usually creates a very hard petal. I wonder if some good stainless braided brake hoses would help.

Were you able to get this addressed? I am having the same issue with my Teraflex Delta Brakes. It is at the shop now and they bled everything and are going for another test drive. But the more I am reading, seems there may be something else going on.
