Hey just saw this new trail. I’m headed near there and wondered if anyone has driven this trail yet.

How’s the difficulty?
Is it worth it?

It’s possible I’d be solo (I know I know I know) just want to get an idea of what I’d be in for if I make it out there.

Thanks!

There is very little information on this, I think I saw 1 YT video. Over on some face book page people were saying its pretty tame when dry. Its been raining pretty heavily in this entire area, so expect some very fine GA/NC clay to sink in if you go now

I was surprised to not see much info or hear much talk about this new trail.

I don't see this trail listed on Trails Offroad. If it's not on Trails Offroad, then you can't "check-in" on the app to get a Badge of Honor. Is this trail officially a BOH trail, or is it pending / in the process of being added to the BOH list?

YouTube has a lot of videos on the Smokey Mountain Trail. I was watching them the other night.
Additionally, Trails Offroad has it listed as Smokey Mountain Road. Trails Offroad has a lot of info on it.

It is on a private property from what I can tell, you have to call them in advance. I am planning to run it once it dries out a little bit and I install an oil pan skid. Nothing to drag over there, but there are ample sticks and branches everywhere to poke into anything exposed in that area

Thanks. I didn't know there was a separate BOH app. In the past, I have checked in for a BOH trail on the Trails Offroad app.

Edit: It looks like I do alreay have the BOH app. I just looked, and found the Smoky Mountain Trail on there. The Trails Offroad apps also has BOH check-ins, but the Smoky Mountain trail is not on there yet. The 2 apps look very similar in layout, design, ad function, and both tie-in to BOH trails, but apparently the BOH app is more up to date.

Thanks. When I first pulled it up in the jeep boh app it didn’t load but one review. Now it loaded a few more.

Might have to check this out in mid July.
just sketchy about going solo when I’m somewhere new.

I ran it about 6 weeks ago. Mostly easy but a couple of brief off-camber sections next to steep drop-offs. Very tight; you'll get pinstripes and lots of climbs and descents. 3-4 rating. Badges are back-ordered, unfortunately. As mentioned, it is private property and costs $40 (cash-only) to ride, plus $50 per night to camp (more on top of the mountain, but it's worth it). Owner is super-nice.

Are there any by-passes to avoid pinstriping? I don't mind bashing skids, bumpers, etc. But, I can't fix paint. Hate pinstriping runs.

Nope, but that's part of wheeling unfortunately. I plan to keep my Ruby until it falls apart, but if I ever have to build a new Jeep, it will get full PPF treatment even before the suspension lift and bigger tires next time.

Well, it is and isn't part of wheeling, depending on the trails you run. That's why I asked. Much appreciate the heads up. We avoid the pinstripers. We don't mind a little challenge. We did the Dickey Bell Trail #91 at Uwharrie in NC, a few hours from the Smoky Mtns. It's a 7 out of 10 on difficulty, but without the paint damage. :) Yes, I did have to spray some rustoleum on some scraped up lower shock mounts and rock sliders, but no body paint damage. The wife is cool with scrapes on skids, sliders, underside of bumper, etc. .... but as for body paint damage, she is like, "Oh hell no!" LOL! Much thanks for the heads up on the pinstriping ... and saving me from the dog house! :)
