I just found this online and was curious if anyone is using it? I don’t have much of an issue with the ESS since half the time I don’t wear my seatbelt and thus the engine stays running. Might be good of me to wear my seatbelt in case I fall off a bridge playing with my iPhone or texting like a 13 year old school kid.

Had mine for 3 years now. Works as advertised, never a hiccup. Makes the start/stop button "sticky" so it stays in the last position you put it in. I don't even remove it if it goes to the dealer.

Same. Have had mine a couple of years now, no issues whatsoever.

I wouldn’t want to remove the module if I went to the dealer. Doubtful it would be the cause of concern if they had to diagnose some other fault if it came to be. I’m only looking at this since this would make me wear my seatbelt more! I had the chime disabled before I drove the thing home the first time.

I couldn't install an ESS eliminator harness fast enough on my then-new JLU. I broke my own rule about not intentionally paying for convenience, so to speak, but forcing a memory function on the non-ratcheting dashboard button was money well spent.

I also installed a 3" seat belt extender to defeat the so-called Auto Park function, and the dashboard warning chime.

Seat Belt Chime can be defeated using a via a Konami-type coding with seat belt clicks and start off/on .... up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A

But good idea on the extender to disable autopark.

I had tried that so many times. I gave up and took the assistant service manager to the side with my request. He plugged his computer in and went through a menu and viola, it's silent. In exchange I swapped out a couple of non working receptacles in one of the service bays for his prized tech.

In my experience it wasn't me, but a girl (most likely on her iPhone) that hit us at 60 without ever touching her brakes. A total of five vehicles involved. We were all stopped

Don't assume that you're the only one capable of doing something stupid.

At some point I hope you see the seatbelt has less to do with you and your driving than it does the other driver playing with their iPhone or texting like a 13 year old school kid. Till then, I wish you well.

I see this all the time here. Pileups for no reason other than the first car stopped on the highway to avoid a tire carcass, mattress, cat or whatever and then the chain reaction begins since it seems everyone is preoccupied in their tech savvy vehicles. I keep my distance and eyes on the mirrors. I used to drive OTR and still have my CDL. (I do wear my belt aside from going to the corner gas station or store down the road)

Honestly, I do wear my seatbelt. Having said that, if I am running to Lowes across the street (Literally!) or to the gas station on the corner, then I don't put it on. I do agree that the danger is everyone around. One of the reasons my bike sits in the garage and looks pretty. Had many motorists blindly come into my lane with no signal and no regard to me being there. I added more lights on the thing and loud horns but it doesn't make any difference.

THANK YOU— best 20 bucks I have ever spent on a Jeep! Auto Park is a PITA with a gate and I was unaware. ??

Not sure what this is?

In Hawaii it's typically between 75 ° - 85 ° and I keep my temperature bottomed out on low with the AC off, so the console always reports something like ESS not ready, cabin temperature

Driving to the trail head, if I see a stop light, I move the temperature up until th ESS ready appears. For me it's a novelty and reinforces MSS (Manual Stop/Start). My wife complains, Why are you turning up the heat to save 3 cents of fuel?

EDIT: I see you were joking about seat belt usage.

Can't you do the same? Driving without belts is just stupid. I can raise the temp while I keep my eyes on the road.

I only run the AC crawling near sea level. By aggressive use of MSS + 2.0T, I burn half the fuel of the JK's who keep their engine running while we inspect the line. That's the only good thing about ESS, teaching me MSS.
