I’m looking for reco for inexpensive shocks that will work well with 1-2” of lift. I do very light off-roading and daily driving on a 2 door Sport that has a 1.5” lift. I was considering just putting on the stock Rubicon shocks or seeing if anyone has recos for something under $300 for a set that may work better. I don’t see a need to spend much more for what I use the jeep for.

Any thoughts?

Stock Rubicon is probably as good as you're going to find in that price range. Many of the lower priced OEM Rubicon height shocks aren't actually an upgrade and end up with less travel than OEM Rubicon shocks.

do you know how putting the 4dr shocks on a 2dr will work? I’m not sure it matters much....but maybe you have some info

4 door shocks on a 2 door will result in a bit more stiffer of a ride, because they were tuned with a heavier body and frame in mind.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
IIRC all the OEM Rubicon shocks (except the Diesel perhaps) have the same part#, only the springs are different, but not 100% sure on that (since I'm old and forgetful :( )

Does Bilstein make a 1" lift shock? I can only find their 2"-3" kit, where the front has a collapsed length of 17.07" (which would require a 2" bump stop).
That should only require a 1" bump stop extension. I believe the front can accommodate up to 16.1" collapsed length.

I think you're right... the longest collapsed length no-lift shock I can find is 16.2" (Fox 2.0 IFP).

I was basing it off of the Mopar lift's 17.5" collapsed length & 2" bump stop. If the 16.1" is correct then the Mopar lift owners could probably get slightly more flex with a 1.5" bump stop (assuming no tire conflict).

As stated above. I ran 5100s with the TeraFlex 1.5” leveling pucks and OEM sport springs. Didn’t consider it since I also go the TeraFlex bump stops w/ the kit. I liked the ride.

However, I’ve recently installed just the MetalCloak 2.5” TrueDual springs and have been very happy with the 5100 pairing there, too!

(I didn’t relocate the shock brackets, though. Didn’t see a need)

I've used several shocks over the past few years on my fleet. In order of preference with the shocks on the bottom being my favorite...

Rubicon OEM
Rancho RS5000x
Metalcloak Rocksport
Fox IFP

Honestly, these shocks all ride very simular on-road and pretty close off-road. The fox IFP's do stand out as my favorite in terms of appearance, control, and comfort.

If you are going to be primarily street with occasional off-road with no lift, the Rubicon OEM is the best bang for your buck.
