They are merely defending their decision . It's their money . If someone else made a different decision , or has a different opinion , they react defensively , with an "Oh, yeah , well I love my JL ; and you can't publicly criticize your JL's problems , because I love my JL ." Emotionalism is not rational . That's why we don't understand the North Koreans all crying when their "dear leader" feels hurt .
I understand people defending their purchasing decision as we all do it to some extent.. Had my JL not been a pile of garbage I'd still have it. I like a lot about it but to think everything is perfect is well, kinda laughable...

The defense of the JL has now reached the hysteria point where if someone says they don't like the side vents they are stupid and trolling. If someone says they don't like ESS they are stupid and trolling, if someone says they don't like _________ they are stupid and trolling.....

I have no idea why people take stuff like this so personal that they feel the need to discredit others and call them names. It's a mass produced vehicle and a certain % are going to be problematic. In the JL's case it appears more than normal have electrical issues, or steering issues or weld issues. Those are the top 3. Nothing wrong with letting others know to check for these issues before buying unless those rose colored glasses get in the way...

There is a lot to like about the JL and there are things to be cautious of as well...

Hi everyone,
Maybe I'm being paranoid, but has anyone else been hesitant to get the JL based on the issues we've been reading about?
My friends have told me i am crazy to even consider buying a jeep.
I figure the majority aren't having issues, and they've sold a lot of wranglers.
To be honest, I am a little concerned. Not as much of the problems but of how FCA handles the warranty after the sale. I think / hope some dealers are more willing to put more effort into customer service. That being said, I plan on ordering a 2019. Your JL should be a late build meaning at least some of the issues should have been worked out. The odds are definitely with you that you will be fine and problem free. You have a warranty in the event something needs to be addressed. I think you previously posted you like driving your cars forever. You are a perfect candidate to take advantage of the Lifetime Warranty. Consider the Lifetime warranty and enjoy your JL worry free. I hope you have time between fun drives to post about your JL experiences. Happy trails!

It's called purchaser's or decision maker's defensiveness . A rational person would re-evaluate their purchase or decision if it goes wrong . Another might defend their purchase or decision until they cannot ignore it any longer . Like an investor in a 'time share' who keeps paying maintenance fees , although it is never available for his vacation .
The JKUR I purchased is not without it's set of problems but I don;t feel like I am going to die when driving it and so far (knock on wood) no electrical issues to speak of. I also had the welds inspected by the same place that did my JL and they said the JK's were fine...

If someone says they dislike the JK for this, that, or other reasons then so be it. I certainly won't take it personal and call them names or accuse them of trolling...

The FCA CEO's office took care of me so I have nothing bad to say about FCA. Jeep Wave is a joke and a waste of time but that's another topic altogether.. A buy back of mine was an option I was discussing with FCA but that would have taken months. I decided on the easier trade back (which did cost me some $$) but I was able to get out of the JL in under 3 days total. I considered getting another JL but got a killer deal on the JKUR. I was able to get it fully inspected before I purchased it as well but could have also done the same if I had opted for new JL instead..

The FCA CEO executive team was stellar and everything they said would happen did happen exactly as they said. No gripe there from me at all...

Anyways, save for any new put down quotes or name calling of me, I am out.

Troll

"In Internet slang, a troll (/troʊl, trɒl/) is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers ..."

That's what @raqball and @old8tora are in fact doing. Nothing, and I mean nothing of what you two guys post are of any value to this community. Contribute, don't discord. Life will be easier for you, I promise. And you'll be much happier.

It has nothing to do with me justifying my purchase decision.

I simply don't understand why you're here on a JL forum. I can't simplify that question any more than that. It in fact makes you look like you're the one that are not happy and want to justify your decision to not own a JL.

JL owners and their Jeeps should be the last thing you two need to worry about. Really

Amen

Did you read and understand the trolling quote you made? I think not................

1. The OP asked a question. The responses here have been relevant to that question.
2. The only inflammatory remarks are from the people calling others trolls and stupid
3. The responses have not been off topic and have been exactly to the topic.
4. The only provoking of others I've seen are from the users who are calling others trolls, stupid and other negative remarks about them

Did the OP stipulate all they wanted was positive feedback? If so please quote that for me as I must have missed it. If not then you might need to reevaluate who is doing the real trolling here..............

@raqball

If the shoe fits.. you, where it. Yeah, it fits... suggest you move the ____ on!

In Internet slang, a troll (/troʊl, trɒl/) is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses[2] and normalizing tangential discussion,[3] whether for the troll's amusement or a specific gain.

So far 7,000 miles on my Punk’n JLU and no problems at all. My first Jeep and by far the most fun I’ve ever had in a vehicle. Lots of compliments from people including the older Jeep owners. Also taken it off road 6 times with local clubs and am awestruck by its power and capabilities.

Yes, I plan on getting the lifetime warranty. My son's friend got a new engine in his 9 year old jeep because he had the lifetime.

That looks cool. I would be shared shit to take my vehicle in water like that with all the electronics. But sure looks like fun.

I Just build them
It's logical that later production will or should have fewer QC issues as things get sorted out. From your experience, how long does it usually take before production is somewhat worked out? I only ask because you suggested waiting or buying a JK for now. Thanks for your insight, much appreciated.
I would say around 1 year. Things are starting to smooth out now. We just need the suppliers to get it together. There will always be improvements and changes that most people don't know or reconize. JK was notorious for leaking at the top of the A pillar. Summer of 2015 they installed a machine to help line up the A pillar to the frame and body before the gusset ( windshield bracket)was installed.

The 3.6 has been around for a while and in the JLU since the release. The 2.0 with the e-Torque just started arriving in mid-August. Would you feel more confidant with one or the other engine choice at this point going forward? Any input on the steering issue? Thanks again.

2018 JLU Sport
We bought a base Sport JLU a few weeks ago. options were 8 speed auto, Limited slip/Dana44 and tinted soft top windows. Our build date is 1/18. When I first drove it I thought the steering was a little loose but after about 700 miles of driving I either got used to it or it got better. It doesn't feel like a sports car but it's not difficult to drive. I did go through and click down all of the fuses. Sometimes the stereo is a little slow to respond to volume changes, inputs etc but other than that we haven't had any issues. We are first time Jeep owners and the one thing i did not anticipate about owning a Jeep was how happy it makes me to drive it. I drove around this weekend with no doors/top and i never stopped smiling
