I had my Power steps installed Monday and up until Wednesday they worked perfectly fine.
Went home from work Wednesday night to be woken by my wife saying my passenger step is down.
That’s odd because nobody went in the passenger side of the vehicle.
Last night at work I found a wire that came disconnected but could’nt reconnect due to the zip ties being so tight that I could pull the wires closer together.
Now I’m at the shop and the tech hooked the wires up and it works but now there’s an issue with the magnet that attaches to the door, it doesn’t make contact with the sensor, the steps will not retract unless he places it right on top of the sensor. He and I have moved the position about 100 times and it still won’t retract.

I’m getting pissed that these things are so expensive to have a magnet or sensor be the failure.

Are they self sticking also or did you have to drill?

The magnets I linked don’t come with adhesive. I used a screw. I moved the original smaller RSE magnet too many times and the double sided adhesive failed. Of course I found the original magnet after purchasing the newer magnets. You could use some strong 3m double sided tape if you don’t want to drill.

The steps are fixed for now, i’m going to outline the location of the magnet and use the magnets I purchased from your link when they come in.

Customer service at RSE is amazing. If you still have any issues just reach out to them. Looks like you need some tweaks but once you get everything in the right spot you will love them.

Maybe if the magnets were a bit stronger from the manufacturer they would stick better.

Fun fact. The doors on a Jeep JL are aluminum which makes attaching a magnet without a screw or some sort of adhesive problematic.

edit: @Nuke_392 beat me to it
Very true, that’s why I bought the magnets with screws

That is a fun fact. Magnet st8cks to the latch beneath the aluminum door skin. Ask me how I know. Lost a few on the trail and now have magnets on my pillars. Pro tip. Lol
