Ride height by model

This info may be in here somewhere but I see, and have asked questions about ride/suspension height by model. I figured the easiest reference point would be to measure on flat level ground to the center of your door and tailgate handles. Obviously tire size will need to be accounted for but I thought this might answer the, "how much lift with Rubi suspension on a Sport" questions. This could be helpfull for lifts as well, a 2" lift isn't necessarily 2".

I wish I would have measured my Sport Altitude before it was totaled but I'm still curious. Plus I'm trying to pass the time while I check my Rubi on the Jeep tracker every 15 minutes. Call it DHH, door handle height??

Stock Rubi suspension is 1" taller than Sport. So with two different OEM stating points, right off the bat a 2" lift isn't necessarily 2". 2" from Sport or Rubi? You have to dig for that info. Then factor in weight. Hard top & Steel bumpers? Soft top & Plastic bumpers? Winch? Cargo? That plays a factor as well. Most lift manufacturers (but not all) don't offer variants for different weights. So your lift ends up where it ends up. And of course tires.

So just asking for door handle height doesn't tell you much if you don't know anything else about their Jeep besides what lift kit they have.

What's that going to tell you? Two Jeeps with the same suspension can have height vary by up to 2". A stripped out Jeep and a Jeep at GVWR are going to sit and ride differently.

Let's just say a bone stock JLU with soft top and plastic bumpers is 39.5" at back door handle.
Then a bone stock JLU with hard top and plastic bumpers is 39".
Then a bone stock JLU with soft top but steel bumpers is 39".
Etc for the Rubi's too.

Once all of that is tallied, then it becomes rather plug and play. Of course not everything can be dimed out exactly, but mostly people just want an idea of what to expect.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say. Along with bone stock Sport, Sport Altitude, Sahara, etc. There is a fair amount of chatter about trim specific spring/shock combos and a lot of speculation. Nothing earth shattering, just curious.

A good place to measure would be from the wheel to the fender unless the fenders are different between trims. You never want to measure from the ground as tire pressure will change the reading. The bottom of the wheel is a constant.

US Rubicons have high line fender flares. Same for XR trim. Sports and Sahara are lower... Also Jeep had slightly different spring rates between models based on configuration; such as with or without steel bumpers, tow package and engine options, etc.

Well I guess that blows that out of the water. However, it still stands true, you should never measure from the ground. Readings will not be accurate since they will change based on tire pressure. Just dont know a better static point than the fender.

There is a Mopar chart that explains that Rubicon is the strandard Wrangler suspension and considered as 0

Rubicon: 0
Sahara: -0.75’’
Sport: -1.50’’
I guess we can now add XR : +1.50’’

Now all kind of springs are adressing the weight of steel bumpers, engine, hardtop and tow package.

So putting Rubicon springs made for a 3.0 steel bumpers, hardtop with tow package on a 4 cyl plastic bumpers and soft top sport will lift you much more than 1.5’’.

same goes for putting springs made for a 4cyl rubi on a 6cyl Sahara, you won’t get no lift at all. ( ask me how I know ?‍?)

Having the hardest time finding the one I meant, and there's been quite a few other Rubicon specified charts making searches even harder, but this one here gives a good idea where you see what I mentionned.

I would think if it's a Sport Altitude it would be the sport height & if it's a Sahara Altitude it would have the Sahara height. I could be wrong but I think the "altitude" is just a blacked-out appearance package

The Altitude package includes heavy-duty suspension, which is the same as the Sahara and Sahara Altitude, so a Sport Altitude is only .75" lower than a Rubicon, equally optioned. The Sport Altitude also includes the bigger brakes that the Sahara and Rubi use.
