Removed rear window

So I don’t love topless.

I don’t want a seat belt tan line and I love my roof rack. So, during the summer I typically put trail doors on (haven’t yet) but THIS year, I removed my rear window.

I freaking love it!

Yes, I am aware of the carbon emissions warning and will only have this with trail or no doors. So, no problems there.

I am mad I haven’t done this before. Highly recommend!

Yeah. It would be nice if the hard top could be modular to allow the rear and side windows to be removed like you can with a soft top in Safari mode.

I've been wanting to remove the rear window and make a canvas roll up cover maybe using velcro.

So, the most important thing is you will need two people for the removal.

Remove the two covers up at the top.
We disconnected the hose, unsnapped the defroster and unplugged the wiring harness. (The hose will still be active, you could cork it, if you want but we didn’t.) Tuck the wires and hoses inside the compartments and then replace covers.

With the window up have some one support it while you unscrew the struts where they attach to the hard top. Then, remove the bolts for the hinges one bolt from each side and loosen the remaining bolt from each side so that they are almost all the way out but still supporting the hinge. Carefully and quickly remove the bolts one at a time while the window is supported by your friend. I have heard too many horror stories about the window shattering, so we were really careful to keep it level and supported while we were removing the bolts.

That’s it.

My EcoDiesel currently pipes out underneath the cargo area.

Sometimes when it regens, I need to open all the windows so I don't die from suffocation of noxious fumes!

I'm 99% certain your back window being removed won't magically float poisonous gases in through your back window and kill you in your passengers. I drive pretty much every day with my back window removed. Only recently have I had on for the last 2 weeks, and even then it'll only be on until I reinstall the horse stall mat in the back. ?

Dude I've been wondering that for the entirety of the time I've had my Wrangler now. Seems like something would be very popular. Kind of shocked myself no one's done it yet. Can't imagine it would be terribly complicated modification to do yourself anyways.

Slightly off topic, but would you be able to take a couple pictures of the rubber gasket that goes between the hard top and the hinge that connects to the window? I'm interested to know what the overall shape looks like and if there is a part number on it to possibly order replacements. My rubber gasket/liner looks like it's squeezed out the sides from day 1 of owning my '21 JLUR 4xe...
