Hi all!

It was recommended I posted this in the show and tell section. I have not seen much information on this topic but am very satisfied!

During launch I read about the sport bumper/fender connection pieces and how FCA confirmed they were removable. I received my JL yesterday and I would be lying if I told you I didn't lose sleep over the thought of those ugly things. Today I was able to remove them, what do you all think? Do you think these connections should not be exposed to the elements? The bumpers were tightly connected threw 6 screws on each side but I would assume water would make it in especially at the recommended water height of 30" from the tailgate plate. What are you thoughts?

Exposing them is fine, JK owners have been doing it for years as soon as they pop on an aftermarket bumper with factory fog light cutouts.

Can you post a picture of the entire Jeep now? I'm sure it looks so much better!

I will for sure post a photo of the entire jeep when I get home. In the meantime here is a photo of my driveway. Side by side my roommates 96 saraha, never saw the connections till I took this photo.

I'm so glad you posted this! I was wondering the same thing. If you are worried about exposing the wires, I would just wrap them in electrical tape for an easy fix. Or maybe even electrical tubing/heat shrink.

This is the thread I've been looking for!!! Thank you! Sorry for reviving this thread, but I'm due to get my JLUS (hopefully) end of the month or early into next, and removing that plastic piece is the first thing I'm doing.

Anyone have any updates on how theirs have been performing with the removal? No shorts, or non functional fog lights? I mean, besides, were those plastic covers REALLY protecting the fog light wires/connections? was it "water-tight" in the first place? If anything, I might plastidip the whole area black so it doesn't stick out visually.

I have had no issues so far and have driven through rain, snow, mud, gravel, dirt- you get the point LOL! There was a post on the "What did you do to your JL today" thread where someone removed just the showing piece and left on the "sealed" piece. I replaced my lights with LEDs, but seems to be ok. Honestly, most the splash hits outside of my car on the fenders or side! Good luck!! Well worth it!

I replaced my stock JLUR bumper with a Barricade trail force and am also concerned about the fog lights being open in the back right in front of the tires. I wrapped electrical tape around the wire/connectors but was considering spraying flex seal to seal the whole back side. Would this cause any unforeseen problems?
