Has anyone bought a 3.6L remanufactured engine for their JLU? I have a 2018 JLUR with a blown head gasket. I'm wanting to purchase an engine from a company like Jasper engines, Fraser, or Powertrain Products. Any input on your experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I have not utilized a reman engine in my personal vehicles. I have installed in other customers vehicles, many years ago - 20+. Back then running just less than 5% come backs..... Engine covered but not labor. Engine assembly is more complex today. But, with CNC machining, machined parts seemed to be much better on average.

Caution: If you still have a cooling problem and activate the reman engine overheat tab(s)........ you will be SOL.

I would try finding someone, with a great running low mileage 3.6L. Who was looking to upgrade to a hemi....... Maybe start a thread with this type of request.

What other engines will mount up to the 6 and 8 speeds?

Can you share any specifics on how you ended up with a blown head gasket? Mileage, maintenance completed/missed, etc

I bought it used in September with 74k miles.I'm am the fourth owner. I'm going to take a guess that almost no maintenance other than oil changes was ever done. I'm looking to start fresh with a reman engine that has all the updates and aftermarket fixes that Mopar should have done in the first place.

Also, not sure how it blew tha gasket. It just started over heating one day on a trail during hunting season. I shut it off and checked for leaks and coolant level in the bottle. The bottle was totally empty with no leaks present. About a week later I got code P0304. I replaced all the spark plugs which were pretty much trashed. It runs better but still consumes about a half gallon of coolant per 100 miles.

I had a Jasper engine and got over 100,000 miles on my JK before trading it in. Jasper engines are good.

They don't seem to list one for the JL, but I plan on calling them. Thank you.

I don't know how much a reman engine is, but I do know that LKQ has low mileage ones that come with warranty. All years. Last time I looked they were about $3k.

It wasn’t a Jeep, but we put a Jasper in the Wife’s 05 Expedition, at least in our case, it is just a basic reman, reusing many non internal components. Your head gaskets would be replaced, but don’t expect a complete new crate engine with new alternator, starter, etc.

That said, we have been very Happy with the Jasper reman in the Wife’s car.
