We have different opinions on the 350, and a LOT of other things as well, it just seems to bother you more than it does me, that I don’t share all your opinions 😉

Doug
Not really, I like 327's too and they are also not regarded as boat anchors.

350's are too old for my purposes. Even the LS is getting up there, although still very favored for swaps, builds, and is very versatile today.

Absolutely wouldn’t consider a 327 as an Anchor ⚓, but as a marine power plant, at least in the performance niche, they are well suited.

I have had someone on the dock comment “That’s a 327, in there isn’t it “ just from hearing her go by on the water, he recognized the distinctive “Voice” of the 327.

One of my Nephews, who has helped me wrench on Plum Crazy, has commented on the special Smile I get on my Face, when that 327 fires up, or gets some throttle applied 😁

That 327 does make me Smile, but I’m not particularly a fan of the 350, just as many aren’t fans of Wranglers.

Ain’t America Great?

And America will begin regaining her proper place in the World, at 12:01 pm 1/20/2025

Great, and soon to be even Better

But I suspect, our opinions differ there as well

You’re entitled to your opinion, as I am mine

Production ended 23 years ago, but there are still plenty of them out there, even if you can’t buy one new from a dealer. There’s plenty of parts still available, likely will be for many more years, aftermarket if not OEM.

Plenty of 350’s have been swapped into all sorts of vehicles over the years, and I imagine there will be more, even if in declining numbers, in the future

Doug
The SBC has been swapped into nearly everything in numbers far surpassing all others inc Jeeps, FJ’s all types of Rods, others like Jags, 240/60 Z’s, I even saw one in a Bug Eye Sprite, Avanti’s-Excalibur’s (factory), classic wooden boats. Plentiful, reasonable price, parts available, adapters available - not just the engine- in Jeep’s case mine was a Muncie to D-18 (large shaft/locating bore) others available….. It’s possible but highly unlikely the modern Chevy’s may someday overtake them as they are already used in the vast majority of everything from Bucket T’s and vehicles of the next 50 or so years. Did I say “vehicles” ?
Jeep Wrangler JL Engine 6EEB4C30-1109-4877-89AD-E3EF89C0BBE0

edit- forgot size, relatively compact, short water pump side accessory mount available, this is also why you see them in the short Willys. ..
3 Chevys one Ford in our group, the Ford was narrow but too long and had to be relocated back that also required down to accomplish.

I don’t know if this is a 350 or not, but on the chainsaw forums, I have seen all kinds of race saws with just about anything up to and including BBC’s

I deleted a couple pics of them in other non riding lawn mowers 😊. The 327 was a good engine, I liked the L-79 in my 66 Nova (stolen) enough I used one out of a wrecked Vette for my Jeep. Top HP hydraulic, upgrade the weak point lifters, intake, carb, ignition- one job, add headers and they would run with the solid lifter engines…… I did use a 4 bolt, big journal 350 Bow Tie block when adding the 6-71 Blower.

early L-79’s had a factory aluminum high rise manifold, the last ones didn’t. They were reduced 25 hp because (unofficial) they had more than the new 396’s other than the HP ones.

Hmm….people who like the 3.6 picked the 3.6 on purpose and the people who preferred a different engine picked a different engine on purpose…

so strange.
I'd argue that the vast majority of 2.0L owners bought their Jeep off the lot without really considering what engine was in it. Stellantis/FCA has been pushing this engine for awhile now. It's even cheaper on the order sheet despite the engine itself costing significantly more. The 2.0L is definitely the "default" engine these days.

3.6L owners more than likely went out of their way to make sure they got the 3.6L. I personally did.

I am one example of someone who specifically picked the 2.0.

I had a 3.6 that failed at 32k. Never gonna buy another.

You are probably right, 2.0’s are becoming more common and Stellantis is pushing them over the 3.6 so a lot of folks may be ending up with them by default. I think 2.0 owners probably wouldn’t trade their 2.0 for a 3.6 after owning a 2.0 for a while.

Maybe he meant 305. Still an SBC but better known for being the wheezing, asthmatic sibling to the 350. Not that a 305 can’t be built, but why wouldn’t you just start with a 350?

Agree if I was building one, actually a 383 stroker unless a better option now, I haven’t kept up for a long time. 305’s suk, I did have a 302 for a short time, a good one for size. (Z-28 engine)

I'm another exception to the rule.

I intentionally ordered a 2.0 to avoid eTorque. I didn't want eTorque under any circumstances, but I specifically avoided it so I could add my LRA aux fuel tank (which is installed in the same location as the eTorque PPU). Had eTorque not jumped from the 2.0 to the 3.6 for a couple years, I would likely have a 3.6. I'm pleasantly surprised by the 2.0.

You could've gotten a 3.6L non-etorque, lol

Yes, that was my plan when I first started thinking about ordering a Jeep. By the time I did during the 2023 model year, the 2.0 was the non-eTorque option.

I had no way to know eTorque would be dropped completely for 2024 (and I'm glad I got a '23 anyway).

I ordered my '21 with the 2.0T and I've been pleased with it's performance and fuel economy. I was able to test drive both the 2.0 and 3.6 before purchasing.

Nah, just simply don’t care for the 350, kinda the same way that some don’t like Wranglers, to each their own.

Definitely not confusing the 350, with the 305, been many, Many, MANY years but my mom had a 305 in a full size Blazer, not positive but I think it was an 80’, that thing Was lamer and more problematic than the Three legged Pug my Wife had when we got married

98% sure it was a 350 in my Dad’s 74 Schittvrolet truck, didn’t impress me much more than the 305.

Lots of things some Like that others don’t, personally I don’t care for 9mm ammo or handguns, but my guess is that we probably disagree on that too😉

But it seems that yer gettin a bunch of exercise jumpin up and down, so yer Welcome 😁
