When new my wife's 23 Civic Si left me stranded with a bad throttle pedal / potentiometer. Had to be flat towed still with the paper tag to the dealer and took a week to repair. I work in the automotive industry and work with the supplier of this part so I gave them grief. The car is now part of a recall and we've been on the waiting list for the part for a couple months. That said our 2015 Si that we've owned since new and now has 160k miles has been in for service 1 time for a quick ECM reflash. I did replace the sunroof motor myself a few years back. Daughters 2011 Honda Fit, I replaced the front drive shafts / seals which were later part of a recall, but since I did the repair myself I didn't get reimbursed. Other than that it's been a great car. I just retired a 18 year old Honda mower (cranked on first pull every time and only replaced it because of a crack/hole in the deck that couldn't be repaired). I replaced it with a new Honda....Generator is also a Honda....

Now my Jeep is about 2 months old and has thrown a fault code for evap emissions. Dealer wouldn't answer repeated phone calls to the service department nor return the voice mail message I left. I physically stopped by and talked with the service department. Also a U connect update happened which altered the way the back up camera displays which can't be reversed.

My point is things break.

She gets driven every day. Works in the Las Vegas summer heat as a mail truck and spends weekends doing trails all over the south west.

Worst problem? A broken water inlet - fixed the same day under warranty.

As a mail truck, I've put her through more engine start cycles then most cars go through in five lifetimes.

I do all my own mods/maintnance so I know every bit of her intimately. I still look forward to getting behind the wheel every day and wouldn't trade her for the world.

Why should I - with her as our companion, the world is already at our fingertips....

Most sedan owners tell people to get rid of their Jeeps.

In my younger days 3 woman commenced to tell me how I should be married. I said, aren't you all divorced!
@Flip you sly dog. Always with the women chasing after you. You know what they were really saying.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I have almost 139,000 hard miles on my Jeep. Zero reliability issue other than the Dana 44 electronics failing. I fixed that by installing a Fusion 4x4 Semi float 60 axle.

The Jeep has been on 37s since 92 miles. Has towed a camper forut 75,000 miles and beat off the road.

It has seen many days like this..

"But my Honda civic went 300k miles in stop and go traffic commuting so it's obviously more reliable"! "You should all sell your Jeeps".

Ok I just ended a conversation from an acquaintance of mine from a previous car club, and our conversation was pretty much him telling me to get rid of my Jeep coz they’re unreliable and keep breaking down. Now, as much as I respect others in their love of cars, I love my Jeep. I’m sure there are others here who would attest their lifestyle and wouldn’t change a damn thing. Especially when it’s a random chat telling you to get rid of your ride. He doesn’t own a Jeep so he wouldn’t know, in fact he drives a “Honda Civic” which is probably the most reliable aside from Toyotas, but they’re also #1 on the most stolen cars list.
I politely told him I’m going to retire in my Jeep and told him “thanks for your concern”.
If you like your ride, keep it. Don’t let others influence your life style. You be you, enjoy life! Keep on Jeeping! ✌
While there is little doubt that jeep (stellantis, dodge, whatever) could be doing far smarter things to increase reliability, one thing I think people forget is the type of driver that owns a jeep.

i would suggest that if jeeps were driven like honda civics (ie not off road) the average reliability score would be much higher than it currently is.

I actually believe jeeps are pretty reliable, the amount of abuse they go through for those that hit the dirt, try that in other vehicles and none will be "toyota reliable". Keep a jeep on the ashpalt and they are just like any other vehicle.

Of course some owners get their share of issues, just like any other vehicle.

Our most supremely well-documented high mileage forum member and JL. Kudos to Ted, gives me hope ours can achieve high mileage comfortably, given it doesn't see a fraction of the purposeful use that Wibornz Jeep sees. Keep that thing rocking & rolling!

I really question the life choices of someone who chooses to steal a Honda Civic.

I'm also on the fence about "car clubs" where the members tell you to drive something other than what you absolutely love for reasons of "reliability". Is it sponsored by Consumer Reports, by chance?

Quit going to "car" clubs! Funny thing, my son does photography and does it at a lot of "car" show/clubs/runs. Thumbing thru some of his latest pics on his site, I had to ask him why there were no Jeeps there? Now understand, he loves my Jeep, and he drives a lifted Frontier that is very off road capable and does storm chasing. In his teenage years I had gotten him a nice 1989 prelude SI that we wrenched on and where he learned alot. He appreciates everthing automotive. So anyway, without blinking an eye, he replied, "Dad, there are no Jeeps there because they are all out somewhere else having fun!" Note: My son is 39 years old, I think I raised him right.

The Jeep brand is rated average reliability by JD Power. However, heavily modded vehicles and those used for extreme off road adventures are more likely to have problems.

Car Clubs are somewhat like this forum, bitchers and moaners, a lot!!

My 2018 JLU is our 27th Jeep and at 61k except for a disconnected ESS aux battery it’s never been back to the dealer! Our 2022 JT Has 21k and it’s still as is and it’s Jeep 28!!

of all those Jeeps only two were kinda lemons however we still loved them, it’s a Jeep thing and any problems were cared for by dealers or the factory!! Some of our jeeps after the first CJ 5 and a couple of other new ones were used and about half of the 28 were used!

Love Em, “a Jeep thing”!!!

Go Jeep!!!
