Sorry to hijack, but does anyone know the part numbers for the iron OEM knuckles that come on the 392/diesel and Xtreme recon? How do they compare to Reid?

My ball joints conti nue to click(less so than before) even after I tightened them, and I have had DW (fixed at the moment by tightening the tierod ball joints. I just feel that these aluminum knuckles are not up to the task. I feel that I'll have to continue to tighten all the ball joints as the aluminum gives way. I'm getting worried that it will cause problems over time.
Just had to replace my knuckles. Went with the Reids. Cheaper than Mopar and were quick/easy to get.

Hey guys, sorry if this is a stupid question. I've been looking at these knuckles. I'm Extremely New to Jeep's. I'm wondering if I can do the high steer Reid Knuckles with with my Metacloaks Steering?

The question is why do you want high steer? This isn't like a JK where people are doing 6" of lift to need high steer. Going with high steer requires a ton of bump stop in order to keep from hitting the frame on the JL.

I second word…high steer has been nothing but a pain in my ass even as tall as i am i still hate it, but my current set up doesnt allow for under knuckle steering or i would. Just dont bother with it

The reason I was looking at the high steer was to help alleviate the wondering on the highway. The Jeep feels loose on the highway. I don't notice it anywhere else.

Unless you are over 4.5 inches of lift every builder I’ve talked to says the same thing, don’t do it

High steer wouldn't fix that anyway. Where is your caster at?

I'm getting ready to replace my knuckles with Reids unless anyone has a better route. From what I'm reading here, I should replace balljoints at the same time. I'm a basically stock JLUR with 17k miles. The tierod hole in the passenger knuckle has egged out a bit. It's torqued tight for now, but I'm sure it will come back to haunt me.

So, I need a balljoint press. I saw several posts about renting and Jeeps & Dogs post about the adapters. So, which press should I get if buying? The OTC brand looks like Made in USA and most of the others are from China, made of WTHK (whothehellknows).

Balljoints...is there any other choice that has a good rep than the Dynatrac BJs? Smooth or knurled?

Anything else I need to do to this nearly new JL while I have the front end apart, just to drive down some trails and the highway (straight) on stock 33s? In my pursuit of eliminating wandering, I have installed a Yeti Pro trackbar, draglink, tierod, and a trackbar brace. It was pretty tight until the knuckle wallowed out. I'm hoping to get the TSB done on the steering box as I have a 1st gen (2018) original still, but with the adjuster tightened a bit.

I'm trying to get my ducks lined up for Black Friday to buy all this stuff.

I have the Astro 7897, its working great, I use it for a lot of different things so I needed more sizes. Although after loaning to my bud, I’m now missing two cups and have one broken latch………. …… the only thing I would suggest doing while you’re tore down is Artec axle shafts, but not necessary for the way you use it.

Roky,
Thanks. I sent you a PM about the FAD.

Yeah, on the axles, I just don't do rock crawling or any driving that this crowd would call serious off-roading. I use it to hunt upland birds and get places that are mostly 2 track roads, but the occasional obstacle.

I would suggest RCV Axle tube seals. Long term, your front axle will thank you.

You want smooth, not knurled ball joints. The knurled ones are only used when there's light damage in the ball joint housings bore in the inner c's.

I saw synergy has the JL ball joints now. Roughly $300

Teraflex debuted their JL ball joints at SEMA but I don’t think they are released for sale yet. I believe they are around $300 also. Lower cost than dynatrac and way better than stock. I ran the teraflex in my jk and had zero issues. I know people who’ve ram the synergy and had zero issues.
