Interesting. Wonder if we’ll see a TSB to fix the problem.

Hopefully it doesn’t involve removing the dash, as I don’t see how that’s a quick fix. Are you referring to “dash vents” that were popped on and off?
Good point.... if "factory debris" is common problem documented among several owners then a TSB should be warranted.

They popped off the front/center of the dash, around all the vent controls/window controls with a trim removal tool. They then had access to vent conduits and were able to remove the debris, it was basically a credit card sized piece of plastic that was blocking the air flow. It took them about 5 minutes to diagnose and perform the work. I can't guarantee this is the same issue everyone else is having, but this fix worked for my situation.

Someone in the aftermarket could make a snap in (maybe flush) plastic part that restricts in the middle. Someone is going to make boat load of Cash!

Windshield started fogging up on the passenger side this evening, even with the defroster on. Tossed some heavy gloves on the center vent, and sure enough, I started getting airflow out of the side vents.

Does anyone (other than @Scipax above) have a defroster that works properly, i.e. air comes out of the left, center and right vents?

It's hard to believe the same problem would happen to this many of us, unless it's a design issue.

It has to be a design issue. I can't see this being a quality issue... unless the person in charge of welding was transferred to climate control.

I’m trying to decipher @Scipax description of a credit card sized piece of plastic that was removed.

Might it be a piece left over from the molding process (sprue/runner/gate) that is designed to be removed prior to installation?

Wonder if it was loose debris or attached to something and needed to be snapped off.

I contacted my local service department (Koons Jeep in Tysons Corner, VA) and asked if any other customers had reported the issue with the windshield defrost. The manager said he was unaware of any other complaints. He also said that in the absence of a TSB, if everything appeared to be working properly, there was likely nothing they could do.

Looks like a good job for a bore scope. Maybe all have to borrow one from work

Just purchased an extra long mouse pad at Office Depot. I'll post pics once I've cut it to size and put it in place.

You will need to fasten it down with say, Command Strips..... otherwise, the pad will blow upward.
