Has anyone installed this and eliminated the factory third brake light? I'm looking for a plug and play ring option (don't want to splice or cut any factory wires) while eliminating the factory third brake light. I see this one has plug and play Y cord. Just don't know how to eliminate the factory third brake light with this. It appears to be feasible as there is a few user uploaded pictures with no factory third brake light utilizing this product. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You should be able to connect the factory connector from the 3rd brake light into the connector for the light ring. You shouldn't need the Y adapter if you don't want the factory 3rd brake light. You can remove the factory 3rd brake light once you are sure the ring is working.

@JimmyZ

Dependent on the State you live in, with no DOT approved 3rd brake light and just this aftermarket brake light ring, your JL will may not pass State inspection.

DO, check your local State laws.... ask an Inspection Center, Inspector..

FMVSS 108, exterior lighting, & reflectors, applies to all 50 states. Florida is not exempt from federal vehicle safety specifications and requirements. While manufactures have to be in compliance, it seems like owners can do whatever they want.

Yup.... but if the State has yearly State Inspection, say like New York, you are kinda screwed... and also local Law Enforcement Officers, do very often enforce the law...
