So, I had to buy a new drivers door for my ‘22 JL (it’s a long story, and no, I didn’t have access to the old door).
I bought a door from a yard in Detroit that has access to factory overruns that was full power (windows, mirrors and power locks), I never thought to check if the exterior door handle had the proximity unlock feature (the small button where you’d place your thumb).
I completely stripped the door, painted it to match, then reassembled and installed it; everything works great except the proximity unlock feature does not work (for that door only). I can use the key fob to unlock it, it unlocks when any of the other proximity handles (passenger and tailgate) are activated, at this point I realized that there are two types of door handles for the doors, one that has the proximity sensor (Identified by that little bump on the handle) and one that does not.
So now I know that I need to buy a proximity unlock enabled door handle, my question is…does anyone know if I also need to get a different harness for inside the door as well, or does the harness that powers windows, mirrors and locks also power the proximity unlock enabled door handle?
