I went to get my oil changed at the Infiniti dealer and caught this out of the corner of my eye. I thought the price was a typo. I don't know anything about Ram trucks, but this one must be really special. $122,901

Pre-Owned 2022 Ram 1500 TRX 4D Crew Cab in #AW22P021 | West Herr Auto Group
10 years ago, we were already laughing at $80K+ window stickers on light trucks. $122K for an overbaked Dodge, in 2022, isn't surprising at all, unfortunately, nor is its status as a used vehicle.

As long as wages are stagnated things will continue to become out of reach.

“Locomotive Breath” seems appropriate since they’ve got us by the balls!?

The problem with housing in most major markets is twofold. First is there is limited affordable housing. In either rental or ownership. Those in the rental market wanting to buy are typically looking at starter homes which are being purchased by large(r) corporations and local operators. They are buying starter homes, putting 10-20k in them, and then renting them at at market rates or above. They can afford to forego an inspection. And in case of larger corporations they have the cash flow to put a cash offer in and be flexible on the close date. If I were selling my home and could get 20-50k+ (sometimes WAY more) by selling to a business versus an individual... who would not take that?

Supply chain issues have just exacerbated the housing and ALL other areas of the economy is all.

This chart's worth a look. I'm a financial advisor & we've been tracking this data for 20 years. It's the Adjusted Monetary Base which is essentially the amount of money that the government's printed & put in circulation (tracked monthly - data back to 1960). Most people don't realize it but in a little over 13 years our money supply has increased by 700%. Guess what happens when you print more and more money? You got it - INFLATION.

My 2009 Rubicon was fully loaded with all options (except auto) and stickered at ~$36k. My 2014 same but now had leather and stickered at ~$45k. Now my 2021 was a little over $66k. The JL does have the diesel, but still! ~$10k price hike every 5ish years for very similar vehicles seems crazy when I look back. Not to mention I've put more $ into building this JL than my first 3 vehicles cost combined!

We bought a CPO BMW last fall after looking for close to a year. Prices just kept climbing and inventory kept dropping. Definitely should've bought in early-mid 2020 when dealers were practically doing 2-for-1 deals. I still look occasionally and the inventory and prices are even worse than 6 months ago.

So happy I don't have to buy a house or deal with rent right now (my wife was smart and bought the house before she met me and married into my Jeep problem)! Prices in my neighborhood have more than doubled in the last 2 years, but there is no inventory so even that is hard to judge. I looked up a former rental in Park City last week; rent is 2.5x what I was paying 10 years ago, but again there isn't any availability so what does it matter.

We'd love to move somewhere with an acre or more, but those are now only available an hour or more from her work. Even though we'd make great $ selling our house, we won't come close to having the $ to purchase anywhere we'd want to be. Thankful for what we have.

Yep- for 19c (16?) your choice of taco, bean burrito, tostada, or bell burger. Mc’D burger 15c- 16-not long before they had the nerve to charge a quarter. As a youngster at the first Mc’D in Sacramento 9c. Yea, getting old.

What's blown me away recently is the price of older sports cars. I'm 42 and have been nostalgia shopping for a mid 90s to mid 2000s sports car. Here's some of what I've found:

2004 Mustang Cobra Conv (5k miles) - $49,999
1995 Viper (34k miles) - $48,000
2002 Trans Am WS6 (18k miles) - $44,900
2008 Honda S2000CR (91k miles) - $45,999
2006 S2000 (56k miles) - $29,000
2006 Z06 (36k miles) - $42,999

I know some of these may be considered collector cars, but damn.
Get one of these instead.... 1970 MOPAR MUSCLE ?
