PORTABLE AIR COMRPESSOR MOUNTING IDEA

Hello

Anyone here install a portable i.e.( smitybilt) air compressor , by removing the base and mounting it somewhere under the Jeep or behind the front bumper or rear bumper ( steel) ? Thanks

@Maximus-3 has this mount that goes underneath the vehicle and holds Viair compressors and tanks. Might be able to make it work with other compressors.

very true in deed lolol , i just love coming up/altering my cars ... i love bothering myself, but anyway, it will be portable/removable bracket, and will be running extended air hose anyway
i really want it to be behind the front steel bumper somewhere on the side , or bottom, etc ..

I turned my portable ARB into an on-board; however, the only difference between the portable and the on-board is the case you carry it in and the wiring.

I mean I guess so. When it's mounted to the Jeep it's still portable, but the carrying case is just a bit different.

The reason I changed mine from a portable to on-board:

1. The portable took up cargo space in the back of the Jeep.
2. I would worry about the portable getting stolen when the doors and top off were off (i.e. stopping at a restaurant on the way back from off-roading).
3. After airing up the portable is very hot and can burn/melt other things in the back of Jeep.
4. Finding a spot to place the portable when airing up where it wasn't falling over or sucking in dirt.
5. Having to pop the hood to attach the portable to the Jeep battery for power.
6. Friends want to borrow the portable and then forget to give it back.

My external power connection for my ARB Twin Compressor and/or Jumper Cables. No need to raise the hood. The power point is connected to my secondary/accessory battery.

The compressor pulls almost 80 amps. And, only about 5-6 minutes total to air up from 10 pounds to 35 pounds for all 4 tires.

I guess i like being able to carry my Viair to different places without having my jeep there. I can run it off the 7way plug. works great so don't have to pop the hood. I do have a set of aligator clips with sae connector so I can use it hat way too.

no my compressor plugs into this which plugs into the 7 pin but I also have aligator clips that plug into the compressor if I need to use it on a vehicle that does not have a 7 pin. I snipped the aligator clips off the compressor and replaced them with a sae connector
