It's approaching 4 years old so
I also have a 2018 with bubbling paint on tbh hinges and door panel that I am hopeful the dealer/jeep might help but if not what then? Call me old school but I wouldn’t feel comfortable selling it to anyone without full disclosure so probably wouldn’t get much for it. Stelantis needs to own this one and do whatever they can to make it right before losing life long Jeep enthusiasts.I have a 2018 Wrangler JL. All of the hinges are bubbling and the Passenger doors. 1 month out of warranty. Dealer told me if FCA wouldn’t help I should get rid of it since it will be too expensive to fix the right way which is replacing the hinges and door panels.
There is already a class action suit in place, although many attorneys advise to pursue a case via your state's lemon law. They revised and re-published it……. The comments in that article are really something, would seem like a class action suit?
Open a case with Jeep Cares, they might give you some goodwill policy, i.e. Cover only parts, you pay labor, or vice versa. Otherwise you'll be SOL . . .I also have a 2018 with bubbling paint on tbh hinges and door panel that I am hopeful the dealer/jeep might help but if not what then? BTW my 2020 JLU is in the 3rd party paint shop waiting for the windshield frame to get delivered.
I spoke to the body shop owner who indicated that new hinges have a coating on the underside.
I’m in the same situation. My warranty just expired a few weeks ago and I found bubbling on the bottom of passenger door and almost all the hinges. I called Chrysler yesterday and they said they no longer would pay out of warranty. Ughh I just paid off my Jeep Wrangler, now they expect me to pay almost 14k!?!??!I have a 2018 Wrangler JL. IMO this is an inside to outside problem. No amount of cosmetic repair will last. If "jeep" knows what the cause is they are keeping it a secret. Their position appears to be replace and paint affected hinges and body panels for 5 years. Also, I doubt the dissimilar metal hinge issue is the cause since door & hood edges are remote from the hinges, windshield frame and swing gate.My car was about 1.5 years old. It was ceramic coated at 6 miles. The rear doors started st lower hinges at around 20k miles.
