I’m actually curious to see if one had filed a claim for corrosion prior to the 3 yr warranty if it starts the clock again. I mean at that point there’s a recorded warranty issue which Chrysler had fixed.

Good point. And I wonder whether it qualifies as lemon law fodder if it continues to show up on someone's vehicle after the first repair is made within warranty period.

Indeed. I’m keeping everyone posted as to my progress. My Jeep goes in mid September so I’ll be sure to post pics and reviews of the repair.

I would be very interested to see what year vehicle all the 'No' answers are. Also, from reading the other thread, I believe a lot of owners don't even realize they have this problem until a very close inspection.

i would love to know this as well. I have a 2021, built in august 2021, and I check it every day

I even check the 5-6 JLs at work randomly if I can do it without looking like a creep (lol).

today I found one spot on one of the wranglers in my parking lot and it happened to belong to a teammate so I found out it was a 2018.

after I saw the one spot I checked the rest of their vehicle (edges tailgates all hinges) only saw the one spot. I did inform the owner about it and how to start the process. Hopefully it’s not too painful on them.

all I’ve found on my hinges so far is rock chips from driving (clearly not the same kind of paint damage as corrosion bubbles)

Keep your fingers crossed, and don't upset the Corrosion Gods, by declaring you are one of the lucky ones without corrosion.

Can't tell you..shhh
I got a call today from the dealer and they said my claim had been approved and I was next in line to get the work done. Hopefully I'll have an appointment in the next couple of days so my jeep is finished and ready for the invasion at the end of August.

Oh, and they even approved redoing the hinges even though some of the damage is clearly rock chips. A couple of them were really corroded but they approved repainting all 8.

I purchased my CPO 2018 JLU this past December and didn't notice them at time of purchase, but who normally looks for something like that on that new of a vehicle. It took me several trips to 3 different dealers until I found one that would start the process for me (I had purchased from a dealer about 2 hours away, so wanted to try and get someone closer to work with me on the issue). Waiting to hear back from them now on scheduling. The service manager did tell me it's a drawn out process and she has done numerous corrosion repairs for this issue (had a 2022 coming in soon for the same problem). I have the ocean blue color. My 99 TJ has less spots on the body than this one. I've got 12 spots scattered around the Jeep on hinges, doors, hood and even on windshield frame. None of them have any chip spots at or around the faulty areas. I wish I would've read about this issue before buying the Jeep. It's too bad, I love everything else about it. I'm currently around 54k miles and have about 1 year left on the corrosion warranty, although this is not really a "corrosion" issue as defined in the warranty because that states they won't do anything until you have a hole ?

It isn't a drawn out process, like you were told, they just want you to think that. If the service manager is good, he just takes pictures of the area, submits them with the claim, and a few days later FCA will OK it.

That’s how it was for me. No question at all. Tech actually marked spots I hadn’t noticed. Got the approval a few days later. I’m hoping that because there is documented issues with my paint at 28k miles I’ll have the case files if there are future issue.

I believe she was referring to more of her getting it finished with their scheduling in the body shop than the FCA side of things. They do alot of collision work so this would be more of a "filler" job for them, which I'm ok with. Just wanted to get the process initiated, I don't care if it takes them a couple months to get it on their schedule to complete. The other 2 dealers (having purchased new vehicles from both of them in the past) I had tried wouldn't even acknowledge the issue let alone take pics to submit the claim.

It really isn't that drawn out. I went over the Jeep and listed the location of the spots, took it to the dealer who marked all of my locations and even went over everything again, they took pictures and sent the claim. Took about 30 minutes. The drawn out part is waiting for Jeep to approve the repair. Took about 3-4 weeks for them to get back with me.
