This isn’t rust. It’s corrosion of the aluminum happening under the paint due to improper paint prep at the factory.

This isn’t rust. It’s corrosion of the aluminum happening under the paint due to improper paint prep at the factory. Jeep has somewhat acknowledged that it’s a problem and has fixed thousands of vehicles (hundreds here on the forum alone), but for some reason they pick and choose some to fix and some not to fix. I’m falling into the category of not getting mine fixed and haven’t been given a real explanation by Jeep as to why
How the Hell has Jeep not fixed this issue at the root of the problem at the factory already.? This better not happen to my 2022!!

It’s safe to say it will, it’s not if, but when... There’s zero paint under the hinges, just raw aluminum on steel action. If you look close enough, good chance you can see primer, even raw aluminum in some spots where water and debris gets under accelerating the issue.

Nope. But one of the firs things I noticed when I did my first wash and wax. Was the lack of paint coverage and attempted to get the manufacturer defect fixed because I was afraid of eventual corrosion (plus I paid $40,000 for something my sister’s $20,000 Renegade has better QC over is bs). I then discovered the door/hood corrosion mega thread, with over 100 pages confirming my concerns.

I have had the same problem. My 2018 Jeep JL has had more issues than my Toyota 2005 Corolla. I regret my purchase and will never buy a Jeep again

I find it odd you’re bumping a bunch of threads and copy/pasting this same thing in all of them…

If you only knew the amount of issues I have had with my Jeep and only 55 000kms.
It’s a joke. Jeep are actually not safe to drive and for the price, are they really worth it?

So common, we have over 100 pages.

Best of luck, hope you get a good dealer. @JeepCares won’t really work with you if the dealer doesn’t want to play ball.
Yup - 100% true. I've tried 5 dealerships including the one that sold me mine... all refused. I've left negative reviews for them and that got me a phone call, even then the service managers said they can't help as the warranty company refused to pay the cost of repairs. If anyone has positively gotten his resolved, please let me know. Realistically, this will be the reason I trade mine in.

Thanks for tagging us here, vegasblue.

We'd be happy to discuss your paint concerns further, Dpittma. Sounds like you already have a case started from your later post, but if you need us to leave a note in the case or provide an update, we're in private message.

Same issue been noticing bubbling for over a year. But didn't know it was a common corrosion issue with my 2018 JL. No dealer has mentioned it during many visits for star connector issues. Unfortunately I may not qualify for the goodwill program as im at 55,500 miles and 7 yrs since purchase.
Im starting to also see paint peeling at the hinges.
This forum is amazing!
