This was never an issue on my 2013 Rubicon, but I traded it for a 2024 and I keep reading these bubbling paint issues and y'all are, quite frankly, freaking me the f*$k out.
Has it been fixed? What years/colors are affected? Is there preventative maintenance that can be done to stop it, hold it off? What are the early signs? How long does it typically take to appear?

Those with the issue will obviously make the most noise, but I didn't experience it on my 2020 and it hasn't happened on my 2022.
Along the same lines with mine.
The 2018 has significant bubbling on both door hinges (2 door) the 2021 has none at all.

It was definitely a problem with the earlier JLs. Seems to have eased up since. But that’s just from what I’ve seen on the forum.

My 21 just started on the hood hinges it will happen to all of them eventually some much faster than others. There has not been any fix or remedy to it unfortunately I am not happy. Someone is suing but I don’t know any details. It’s galvanic corrosion so fluid film or garaging it won’t stop or prevent it. As long as people keep paying those prices they won’t fix it.

Are there aftermarket hinges that can be installed to eliminate the issue? Reading through other posts I've seen it's due to the incorrect or absent sealing of the aluminum/steel. I'm thinking it could be prevented by replacing the aluminum with steel.

Owners are getting bubbling on hood and door edges not just hinges

The real issue is that painting aluminum is a pita. None of the manufacturers can get it right. We had the same issue on our explorer. Took it for repairs and has been good for years. It's all about the prep work when it comes to painting aluminum.

Yes my hood hinge and the hood itself 21 2 door Hydro Blue. This is just bad quality. Never had this happen on any new vehicle ever. Not interested in having a vehicle repainted every few years as it just comes back again. Not sure what I’m gonna do I’ll get it fixed this time then decide.

Currently own a 2020 Sahara in Sting Grey. The hinges and metal corroded on all four doors and on the hood; both on the hinges and around the edges. It was all repaired under warranty by our local dealership. They replaced the hinges and repainted the aluminum panels. The repair was completed in July so not enough time to determine if the fix worked.

I'm wondering if the metal surface is chaulky white phosphorus looking.
I chipped at a couple places on my 2018 with my thumbnail, and yes, chaulky white underneath - door hinges and door edges.

TL;DR
TSB 23-020-23 REV. A, indicates the replacement hinges come equipped with a Zinc shim.

I purchased the Jeep last March; didn’t notice the corrosion until I was rotating the tires on my lift and only learned about the warranty coverage in June.

My repair was completed this past July - warranty expired in August. I’m hoping for the best.
