Well that’s my question exactly. Why does it? It’s an aluminum panel, it’s not going to rust through. It’s not structural, it’s not going to affect resale value more than it would cost to repair, so why bother? I understand it looks bad up close, but how often have you looked at other people’s cars that close?

It might not be a vanity thing, just an "I dont like my stuff to look like crap thing, after I just bought it thing." More of a Pride thing.
