Curious about the water ingress some have seen, and why it would show up with the Oracle flush mounts and not the OEM lights since the seal to the tub is the same?
It's nothing to do with where the tail light body touches sheet metal, but rather with the occasionally imperfect sealing of the electronics on the backside of the Oracle tail light.

Installed mine on Friday. Easy install, they work great and look great. Very bright back-up lights as others have noted.
___________
I have the factory LED option but haven't noticed any dash messages. What message shows up on the dash, and in which dash screen? Maybe a "blown bulb" message is there and I just haven't noticed? If nothing shows up then I might not bother with Jscan/Tazer solutions(?).

When I had the lights out, I noticed there are holes in the tub-body leading down to the wheel well. Maybe the water ingress is from that? Water splashing up and making its way from wheel well up into the tail light cavity?
On the error side, mine said both taillights out and rapid flashed the turn signal before Tazer.

Concur with @Heimkehr on the moisture.

EDIT: As a note, The stock lights have a check vent that I assume is used to correct that issue.

The rear of the tail light is a single molded piece. Nothing to seal from the rear. The red lens is sealed in from the front. We found the issue quickly after reports started coming in and resolved it.

Anyone having ingress or moisture issues just needs to email a photo to [email protected] and it will be replaced.

I just noticed my Oracle Taillights on the passenger side out yesterday morning. There is moisture at the bottom of the of the C-shape also. It is flickering and trying to stay on. When depressing the brakes the light works but with them on, the running light is partially out. I reached out yesterday to start the process of getting a replacement. Not too happy about having to pay for shipping after paying the high price for them and having them go bad with in a month. Should hear back by end of the day to get one sent out.

Since JP of Oracle has been very responsive on the site here--thanks!--can you tell us whether changes have been made in the recent flush-mount tail light production that addresses the water short-out problem that a few have reported here?

Mine were backordered for a couple months, and the Oracle website said they would start shipping again in mid April. I wondered whether that meant production had been halted while Oracle made some fixes, perhaps to improve water sealing(?)--and then restarted production. Can you tell us if there are changes in the current production flush-mount tail lights that address this?

Can you tell us if there are any extra sealing steps I should try to prevent water from getting into the lights and causing problems? For example should I seal around the central black rectangle with the Oracle logo?--that piece fits into the face of the tail light and could be allowing water in. The other two possible sources I notice are the circumference of the light where it mates to the body--maybe that needs to be better sealed? And then the route of water from the inside of the tub?; the tub cavity is open to the wheel well, not very directly but water could get splashed up into the rear of the tail light.

A week in, I'm very happy with the tail lights, and not seeing any codes thrown on my JLR with stock LED / no BSM.

This post suggests you shouldn't be dinged for shipping charges.

As @STW requests in the preceding post, what intel can you share with us regarding the water ingress/moisture issues? It'd be useful to know if there's a preventative, DIY fix that early adopters (like myself) can attend to ourselves, so as to prolong the service life of these lights.

It was discovered that one of the machines on the line was leaving a light film of grease on a small section of the sealant channel, causing the sealant to not bond and thus, creating a small gap in the seal. This was caught quickly and the issue resolved.

If you were an early adopter and have not experienced this yet, you won't. This issue would immediately present itself on first contact with water.

There is not much of a DIY preventative that can be done here, since the red lens is so tightly fit into the housing.

I recently installed my Oracle tail lights. Love the look and reverse lights!

I do have a dash error saying my turn signal is out. They do work however. I have a Tazer so I will go through turning off/on the LED setting and see if that clears it.

On the BSM, it only works when passing very tall vehicles/trucks. I am wondering if I could shim the top of the sensor to angle it down and that could fix the issue?

That's what I did. Used about 4mm of foam tape to angle them down slightly. It's not OEM detection but definitely a lot better than without the foam tape.

What is an early adopter? Mine was purchased February 6th of this year. So far 5 Car washes and a few days of sitting outside in the rain. No problems so far.

By way of example, I ordered in Nov 2021 (taking advantage of the $40 pre-release discount), and received my tail lights in early Jan 2022 as part of the first batch of shipped lights.

It wasn't all of us that got them early. I think some just slipped by. I haven't had any issues and it just went through a shitty Canadian winter.

The "Beauty Groove" panels I installed have worked out well. So much nicer then seeing that fugly Oracle logo on each tail light.

Fortunately, I do not have BSM on my JL ... and no water intrusion issues so far with the pair of Oracle flush mounts I have.. Kept my stock LED tails just in case...
