Sorry to hear about the damage to your Jeep.

This is one of many reasons I never go to the dealership for the "free" oil change. Too many times, the dealership has Jr. change the oil. Often, these 'mechanics' are new to the repair business and don't have any real skills. Just have never had any luck with the dealerships' oil changes. I usually either change the oil myself or have a local shop who lets me watch the oil being changed.
Where do you dispose of the old oil after you have changed it? That is my plan moving forward and going to the dealership for major items or warranty work in the future.

For several years now, one of the Service Advisors at our Honda dealer will walk around the vehicle with an iPod, filming its exterior condition. They do so almost immediately after the owner exits the vehicle after pulling it into one of the service reception lanes. The footage will serve to protect their interests, or the owner's, depending on the circumstances if (and when and where) damage has been discovered during the time that the vehicle is in the dealer's possession.

I think the foregoing is a good policy, one that possibly may have paid dividends in the case of the damaged fender being discussed here.

And there's the flaw in the slaw.

Cory, be prepared in case the dealer takes this very position. I'm not saying this to be accusatory, but rather to suggest what might [unfortunately] happen.

Best of luck as you seek resolution here.
I have pictures before sending there, ive only owned it since Wednesday and it something like that I would have noticed scratches and marks like that. After the dealership it stayed in the garage all day, so it was on the dealers part.

Any oil change place will take it, Walmart usually does, otherwise your local recycling center will as well.

I do agree with an earlier comment suggesting that the fender damage had the appearance of a footprint. That someone might have used the fender for that much weight-bearing might make me see red. So, again, good luck with the resolution process.

I can confirm that Advance Auto and Auto Zone will accept used motor oil, provided they don't have a "Tank full" sign taped to the door the day you go there. I give my used oil to a local, independent mechanic who, I believe, heats his shop with waste oil. I've never been charged when dropping off used oil, either.

Thanks for the tip, I should have caught when I was at the dealer, but honestly didnt even cross my mine as I have dealt with this dealership for years with servicing. I will now be taking good before pictures before heading to the dealership.

Either drop it at Autozone or get the burn pile going real good.

…how do you damage a fender during an oil change let alone not clean up after yourself.
It's easy, they try harder.

Sorry about all of the damage. This is why at 70 years of age, I still do all of my maintenance work. And it gets done right. Without damage.

I will be doing it myself, not sure how hard it is with a 6.4L engine under the hood.

By the way, did you check the engine oil level to make sure it is correct?

What matters is ease of access to the drain plug and especially the oil filter when under the vehicle. The former should be front and center, so to speak. I don't know where the latter is on the 392; I'd actually ask an owner like you for a photo if I needed to confirm where it is. ;)

The oil fill cap should be plainly evident up top.

Yes, double-check the dipstick to determine if the dealer at least got the fill quantity correct.

Ill have to look in the morning and check the oil dipstick, had other errands that I was running (not in my 392). This one simple oil change, that ive had no other issues with at this dealer is making me question everything, I figured it would happen sooner or later to me to have a bad dealer experience.
