The hardest part is not getting oil all over your engine when you're wringing the towel out over that little hole on the top.
I must have read your post 10 times yesterday as I followed along with the thread but it finally hit me today and I just spit a full 12oz RedBull out of my mouth I laughed so damn hard.

Keep you mouth closed when pulling drain plugs, especially gear lube... although I heard it smells worse than it tastes... that's what I heard... from a friend...
Used to work as a maintenance foreman at the steel mills. 1 of my millwright was about to remove a hydraulic hose but stopped to put his respirator on …. Just in case of stored fluid. Took a face full of warm hydraulic fluid right after that.

I'm sure there is a reason for this. ?

Don't drain the transmission fluid, then add 5 quarts of oil to the engine.
way back 12 years ago or so, I accidentally unplugged my transmission fluid plug while doing an oil change on my Tacoma, i realized it right away, but said fudge it, I'll let it drain and just change that too.....

well, after about 20 minutes of looking for the trans fluid cap to refill it I gave up and called the local service center.....uh oh, it is a sealed transmision and can only be refilled with special tool at dealership.... FML :whew:

Had to have it towed to dealer for refill, luckily they took care of it for me and I had free towing, but yeah, what a nightmare and total rookie move...

In my defense though, they put the two plugs right by eachother and they look identical....I wasnt the first or the last to pull that move:lipssealed:

Pro tip when working on brakes:

If you replace your brake pads and as part of the process compress your brakes making them useless until you build that pressure back up, do NOT then do an hour or two of unrelated work, forget your progress on the brakes, back your car off the ramps, then let it roll backwards into a storage shed while the brakes do nothing for you.

I wasn't sure if you were joking. So, I reread it. Each time, it was still funny. Every time! That was a good post. Hope everyone had a laugh. Everyone should relax sometimes. Could've been disastrous if it was true. Oh, that would've been a mess! Don't really try it. Even on the first of April!
I just re-read this and see your code as well ;)

The procedure for getting the fill level right is a huge pain in the arse but if it's anything like our 2010 4Runner, there is a simple fill plug on the side. Filling it back up is not simple but opening the plug is. I had to use a small electric pump and a lot of Valvoline MaxLife.

Did that with my 1999 Explorer. Started it up, everything seemed fine. Then got out and saw a lake of Mobil 1 all over my garage floor. What a mess.

I have learned the hard (AND MESSY) way to always verify that the old filter seal came off with the old canister filter. It normally does not leak until you fire up the engine to check for leaks, ALWAYS keep the drain pan underneath until you are done as well.
