One of my business professors in college purchased a new Astro Van (remember them?) that ejected a rod at ~50K miles.

After a few Qs, we learned that he never changed the oil. That's what led to the block self-perforating.

Not a question of more money than sense, but rather an absence of it.

He needs to make a new account on the BITOG forums.

I've visited that site a couple of times through the years, but never registered. The idea of building an entire site with the internet's most contentious subject as its foundation is something that I'm content to observe from a distance.

And to the fair to the OP, I'm sure that he means well. Just having a bit of fun with his M.O.

I've lurked there off and on over the years but never registered. Funnily enough I recognized OP here from there before he even started posting all these threads.

As much as I would like to change the oil every 5,000 miles, or even 3,000 miles, I just don't drive enough to hold out that long. Under 3,000 is typical, if I change once a year. Now, my wife's car gets a regular change at 5,000 miles, a few times a years. She drives the crap out of that Highlander. She would love to drive my Jeep more, but letting her rack up the miles on it just doesn't make sense.
