I am OCD. I carry white touch up paint and flat black touch up paint in the cargo cubby for
Those random touch ups while filling gas or for when I notice things. I sprayed all my silver exposed bolts black on sliders, front bumper, etc.. I’ve sprayed my diff covers (painted bright white) twice now after they get daily road debris marks. I carry screen cleaner and micro fiber towels in the cubby/glove box for occasional wipe downs. Haha. Now that I say it out loud it’s a bit much sounding. However, I also don’t mind scuffing beadlocks, sliders, skids one bit. I’ll drive through every puddle and dirt road I come across. I use Jeep but I take care of Jeep too ?

...and until Greg makes his way over here, here's a photo of his Jeep as a placeholder...

He's significantly more creative than that. I'm actually not sure why people seem to think that he doesn't take care of his rig. His always seems significantly cleaner than mine. The fact that we live on a dirt road in a town that's about half paved doesn't help.

It was so damn freeing when I bought my first Jeep. No need to keep it washed. No need to park at the far side of the lot. No worrying about scuffing your "rims" on the curb.
100% Agree. The dirt all over the sides is like a badge of honor that shows it is actually used for its intended purpose.

After installing the LOD rock sliders, I park anywhere I want and think,” Go ahead, hit me with your door. I don’t care.”

This last adventure, I let it rain to clean it. Although I did clean under the hood before tearing in to change the OFH. I'm kinda OCD about cleaning BEFORE working on an area of the jeep.

As am I, but I figure that I'm preventing accumulated detritus from fouling the work area, and/or damaging whatever component(s) are being handled/removed/installed. So, pre-cleaning cross-walks to safety more so than aesthetics.

Either way, ours is the correct approach, IMO. ?

All this thread proves is that people have no clue how crippling and debilitating actual OCD is.

Anal retentive is the term you're looking for.
Fun fact, though you never realize it from talking to me. I actually was diagnosed with OCD when I was 4 years old. It pretty much owned me for a good portion of my life. But in my early twenties I started challenging it and doing the opposite of what I felt I had to do and with time I conquered my OCD. I still do some things I'm sure sometimes, But the general rule of thumb is OCD is something you can conquer, you just have to put the effort into it. Also too, breaking your OCD habits is going to suck, and it's going to suck for quite a while until you get used to the suckage. Like the Marines say, "EMBRACE THE SUCK!"

I got a waterproof one piece top coming in later today, and I will be running the Wrangler this way until this upcoming December at least. So I guess no more car washes for me. The once it gets warmer, I'll probably wipe it down and hose it down in the front yard!

Honestly the only things I really take constant care of are my front windshield which I'll clean every couple of weeks to get the bugs off of. And then I take care of my headlights fog lights off-road lights tail lights third brake light every 2 weeks. I'll give it a good clean up and then every 3 months or so all give the headlight lense a good polish and ceramic treating.

But for the most part, I only really clean it to keep the dust down. Honestly if I wash it and get it all shiny, it'll only be like a day or two before it's dirty again, so why bother. Waste your time for something that's inevitably going to get dirty again.
