New Main Battery FYI

Battery took dump on my 2021 Sport. Drove to O'Reilly's and purchased a new one.

At home pulled out the old battery and noticed a size discrepancy. The new battery is the same width but almost 2 inches longer. I then noticed on the bottom of the battery box and towards the front a plastic plug. It was easily removable and removing it made room for the new longer battery.

So I guess these battery boxes are made for two different size batteries.

Yep, more or less tow package vs no tow package. Might be missing a different one that changes the battery size.

Yeah, the tow package gave you a larger alternator and battery. Some of the other packages bumped up the alternator (like premium audio) but I believe still have the smaller battery.

Those Jeeps without the tow package use the H6 battery, for which a press-fit spacer is used in the tray to prevent movement. The tow package Jeeps include the nominally larger H7 battery, which compels removal of said spacer.

Wanting a stronger battery when my OEM H6 battery required replacement, I removed the spacer when installing a new Interstate H7.

I see you found the removable part to use a H7 battery. There is another peices part you can remove to install a H8 battery. We'll some other things need to be done but its not as bad as a dual battery setup when removing the Aux battery.
