Hey all I’ve been having sort of this tapping noise coming from the engine lately, it started like a few days ago. I have the 3.6L with 64k miles. Could anyone help me with what this sound may be? The tapping increases upon acceleration. Thank you! I have inserted a video as well. You can hear it more once I start revving it.

Yup, It’s definitely that. Have you personally had experience with this? Unfortunately I’m out of warranty and will be paying out of pocket. Looks like an expensive job.

I have not had any problems yet. I came across this and thought it might of interest.

Is it misfiring yet? You may be able to get away relatively cheap if you catch it early enough. Roughly 2k will replace all rocker arms and lifters, IIRC. I once posted a full estimate here for this job. If it needs new camshafts, the engine is no longer trustworthy.

Got quoted 1500 by a shop that does a lot of these. Dropped it off this morning, it seems like the guy knows his stuff. Hopefully everything works out ?? Thanks for your input

Apparently I will need a cam. Said the worn out rocker arms ate away at it. I attached the pictures that I got sent. Damn this is gonna get real costly once I find everything out Monday.

Hey
I have the same problem. Do you know the reason why this happens?
By the way, this happened after they replaced me with a new engine (block). A total of 9000 km passed

Isn’t there a recent class action lawsuit about this? I seem to remember reading something recently on it. You may want to find out and join in.

From what I’ve been reading it’s a factory defect that FCA’s been hiding. And are replacing engines that will eventually have the same issue down the road. Not sure if there’s a permanent fix for it yet.

I just read up on it too & signed up (I think I signed up) Maybe I’ll start getting some phone calls tomorrow? But regardless I am probably like $2,000 out of pocket right now for the repairs being done. This sucks big time.
