Did my fourth oil change two days ago. Only difference was I used a different filter (store ran out of Mopars).
Didn't drive the Jeep at all. The last two days I worked on installing a winch. Finished tonight.
Spooled the cable and then moved the Jeep down the driveway.
The entire driveway was filled with oil. Went underneath. Almost all of the oil was behind the oil pan. It went from the transmission pan to the mid cross members. I put my hand over the rear cross member and it was puddled with oil. Checked the dip stick, nothing. What the hell could of happened?

Check for two o-rings on the filter. The old one may have stayed on the engine.

Nope. Just put in new filter and changed out oil. Still leaking. And a lot. Hard to see because it is so tight. Looks like it’s underneath the oilf filter casing. Can’t really tell though.

Did you crack the plastic where the filter goes in?

I’m not sure what happened. There are no cracks that are visible at all. Underneath the car, it’s still coming out in the same general areas. From the transmission pan all the way to the mid line going back where the crossmembers are. I’ve looked with a flashlight and can not see any specific leak. It’s just dripping from everywhere.

There is definitely a puddle of oil sitting under the filter housing. I stuck a thin stick down there and that’s when you can see it.

Hi Michael,
We're sorry to hear about this. Are you considering having your dealer take a look? If so, please send us a PM. We would be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to work with you and your dealer.

Keep in mind a lot of oil is going to be pooled on the engine and may make it seem like you still have a leak.

When this happened to me it took a lot of effort to cleanup the oil. It pools in the “mote” around the filter housing and settles in various places under the Jeep. Mine dripped onto my garage floor for a week (I covered it with cardboard).

Does you dispstick show that you’re full? If so, you’re just gonna have to get under there and sop up what you can. After that, get out in the highway and let speed/wind/vibration have a go, then be prepared to do more wipe downs underneath.

Did you forget to tighten the Pan Bolt or was a washer ( the wide part of the pan bolt) broken and not allowing the bolt to seal? Thats a dandy alright.
